I usually run cork dry... I am interested in your process.
There must be 99 different ways to put that gasket in. Georg likes the Permatex copper spray on, I tried it on my last oilpan gasket (and waterpump) and it's working out beautifully.

What in the cork gasket alignment voodoo is going on here?

Could you explain your process real quick? Looks like studs for alignment, a few bolts to hold the gasket in place? RTV on the top side of the gasket? I usually run cork dry... I am interested in your process.

I started this process years ago when the motor is still in the Cruiser. I use 4 guide dowels to line up the gasket o the block, a thin layer of RTV and some in each corner, I use the same oil pan bolts to hold the gasket in place after an hour or so I pull the bolts and guide the oil pan into place using the same dowels. I'm sure everyone has their own way of doing it This works for me.

Had another Great weekend, Robert and Corina came up for a BBQ and knuckle build day. We finished the conversion and the steering. Tomorrow I am leaving with the Race 45 to Stockton and this weekend we will be at the Valley Hybrids Truck show and Swap Meet,

Thanks man, I am always under the cruisers experiencing weeping and gnashing of teeth since the dang thing slips around so much. I am stealing this one for sure.

I have used the copper stuff on exhaust gaskets like headers and stuff and it really does a great job, I have always been taught to leave cork alone... but I still get leaks! I will give it a go next time around.

Productive week, Got back from the Valley Hybrids Swap meet Monday and was able to finish the front axle and steering, Cleaned and rebuilt to E Brake, Intake and Exhaust is installed, FJ60 side cover and distributor. Close to getting the rear axle and springs removed

Right on ! Great lookin rig. Spoiler Alert mine was at some point re painted white and not very well LOL its starting to just come off in sections back to the Spring green so at some point it will go back to the factory two tone.
Spring Green is a nice color!

Took a little break from the 55 I did start getting the driveshafts checked and cleaned also the battery tray. I pulled the 1981 HJ47 over by the shop just because I wanted to work on something different. What a Blast this thing is. Did some work on the front brakes and took a short drive. The 47 is next on the list and I am really looking forward to this one.

Some days working on an Ol Cruiser are better than others LOL Started removing the rear 3rd member to upgrade to the 3:73's Drain plug was already completely rounded off, pulled the cover and got everything drained and found the Bolt/pin holding the Larger center pin was broke off in the carrier. To keep the project moving forward I burned through 2 cut off wheels and finally got the center pin out. Sucked to cut into the carrier There's really no simple way to fix a broken pin. Tomorrow I can finish getting the 3rd out and keep moving forward

It was a good day, Finished getting the busted 3rd out, pulled the original shocks and got the fuel tank emptied for removal. There's going to be a full day of cleaning again LOL Once I get the new/used 3:73 3rd cleaned and prepped its going in before I start on the Springs and bushings.
