I love the name Snowplow!
What were the issues with the mini-truck brakes?
Did you by chance drive your 45 out to the Black Hills Cruiser Classic some years back? I think you let my boy drive your 45 around the campground. He still remembers that! It was many years before he got his license. You gave him a shirt as well.
Yes I remember that. I was at the Black Hills Cruiser classic. Somewhere I have pictures of that day. We drove around the campground Good Times. The Mini truck knuckles I had were pretty rough and a lot of the hardware was missing. Since I am on a timeline I will address them later. The FJ55 was found in Big Bear California not far from me Cool story it was sold at the same dealer as my FJ45 Imperial Imports.

That is a cool story!
I can't wait to see you get this up and running.
Maybe we could have two Pigs at Classic!

Dragster prep is coming along. Our tire Sponsor Koritas Tire&Wheel are getting some good used tires for the rear I should have them back tomorrow. Spent today cleaning and installing new Spark plugs, Cap and Rotor. Motor is running Great its going to be close to 90 degrees Saturday we'll see how that affects everything. Like everything we have done before I set two Goals, Pass Tech and run the 45 down the Drag strip. I can't wait !

You sure are getting your money's worth out of that 45!

I don't remember that intake set-up when you were in the Black Hills. What is the story with that?
I have since swapped out the Carburetor for a Sniper EFI and re designed the air cleaner for our Desert races

Had a Great time at the Dragstrip Now its back to getting the 55 together. I finished getting the side cover and rear cone re sealed on the T case, Next was start on the passenger side of the motor. With the AC compressor and brackets it was a rear pain getting the side cover off. Now the time consuming part, Getting the old gasket off. The side cover is getting replaced with a later FJ60 dented one and up grade to the FJ60 large cap distributor and ignitor.

That's good thinkin'. Probably the advance diaphragms on those dizzys is shot, and you probably don't have the HAC stuff to run two diaphragms anyway. There's a single diaphragm advance mechanism that bolts right on and works.
Where do you get the vacuum for the dizzy from?

Great information, I plan on swapping the Holley Sniper off the Race 45 into the 55. It's been so long since we did the install on the 45 I can't remember how we did the vacuum advance.

I thought that was the part number stamped on the diaphragm...shoulda said I got that from @4Cruisers
That's the Nippondenso part number. I've been trying for years to find any information possible to tie those ND numbers to the corresponding Toyota part numbers (they start with 19220-). My resulting dataset is really small, so I've pretty much given up on that endeavor. Besides, it doesn't matter. I usually end up cutting open each advancer, replacing the internal spring, and adjusting the small screw until I get a close match to the Toyota vacuum advance curve. I've probably modified four or five dozen advancers in the past 7 or 8 years.

Just picking away at it. Intake/Exhaust was a bit of a pain. Also got the FJ60 Distributor cleaned and installed. I'm using the 1969 FJ55 wide intake the plan is at some point install a Sniper EFI system

Started getting the steering together when I noticed the steering shaft was sticking, After gettin it apart there was 40 years of dirt and grime inside. Another rabbit hole LOL Its coming together and when its done its going to last a long time. Tomorrow's goal get the steering back together and start on the front springs and axle

You forgot to swap a mini-truck box and pedestal in while you were at it :grinpimp:
This 55 is going to remain stock, I have never had any issues with the factory steering I am sure its a nice upgrade.

I was just ribbing you, though it is a nice upgrade if you’re building a road trip machine. I’d probably go with the newer electric doing it now days, hardly changing anything from stock. It’s nice in parking lots and nicer off-road, but it’s not necessary like you said. I’m partial to a white pig, so been following along 😎

Right on ! Great lookin rig. Spoiler Alert mine was at some point re painted white and not very well LOL its starting to just come off in sections back to the Spring green so at some point it will go back to the factory two tone.

What in the cork gasket alignment voodoo is going on here?

Could you explain your process real quick? Looks like studs for alignment, a few bolts to hold the gasket in place? RTV on the top side of the gasket? I usually run cork dry... I am interested in your process.
