Haven't posted much on the 55. Slowly getting everything working. Thanks to @Drice the rear window and gear is working perfectly Thanks. The last few days I have been replacing all the vent hoses for the fuel tank. I am really excited about getting the AC working. At some point I will have to swap it over the R134.

I am so glad the gear worked. I am starting to get feedback and it is all positive as to operation. I have had a few people say they had to sand and or polish.

Pulled all the seat belts out for cleaning. There very hard to adjust. Any suggestions getting them to free up ?

Snake Oyl?
Is that the company that reuses all your original latches and re-belts them?
Yes but they also offer restoration of the original buckles/latches and retractors. They can also reproduce the original tags for the belts. I sent them all my original belts which were complete except for two of the plastic covers for the rear lap belts. I also sent them a plethora of spares which included spare covers so that they could pick and choose components for the set. I will post up before and after photos in my build thread when I get them back.

If you just want your belts rewebbed, Safety Restore is a more economical alternative. I used them on my 80 series front shoulder harnesses a few years ago and they did a nice job.

Had a Fantastic weekend in Johnson Valley this week. The Pig is running Great and after installing a diesel heater I headed out Friday. Hung out with some friends getting ready for King of the Hammers. Really got me motivated to make some improvements on the 55

After taking a break and getting a few things ordered I should be able to start all the 55 upgrades. My Goal over the next few months are, Mini truck disc brake conversion, steering U joints and center arm rebuild, swap the thirds out to 3:73, new spring bushings, shocks, up grade headlights, I have 3 cans of R-12 so the biggest and most exciting part of all this is getting the Factory DENSO AC working. There is also a good chance I will be taking the Sniper EFI off the Race 45 and installing it on the 55. I have a few Road trips in mind this year. Once everything mechanical is done I'll start on Interior, body and paint.

Rob Iam looking forward to your build, Do you think the F engine can handle 373 gears?. In a 55, Happy trails bud
It worked Great over the years in the FJ45 back when I was doing Road trips. Just gives us a little more top end on the highway.

Finally got the 55 set up next to the shop. Getting everything out and starting cleaning. I will be swapping the intake for the larger 1969 FJ55 intake, both lower exhaust manifold bolts were broken so I will address that, pulled the steering shaft to replace the steering U joints. This is going to be a fun project. Once I finish the engine I will start on the disc brake conversion and replace all the spring bushings and shocks.

@bobm you can see in the first picture after a few hours in the Ultrasonic cleaner, With the new U joints from Valley Hybrids it came together nicely. Spent sometime cleaning around the steering box on the frame ( what a mess ) Got the pulled box off and I will start working on that tomorrow.

Today was a busy day, Got the steering box pulled apart and cleaned. Everything looked really good inside I replaced the output seal and made some new gaskets. I cleaned up the drag link and the tie rod ends were still in Great shape so after some paint I replaced the boots. Tomorrow I might start pulling off the rest of the steering and get ready to pull all the drum brake stuff to prep for the disc brake conversion. Good Times
