It was a good day, Finished getting the busted 3rd out, pulled the original shocks and got the fuel tank emptied for removal. There's going to be a full day of cleaning again LOL Once I get the new/used 3:73 3rd cleaned and prepped its going in before I start on the Springs and bushings.

Curious to hear how these 3.73 's work out re the freeway speeds. I have ben interested in this same setup for some time now.

I have had Great experience with them. Prior to turning my FJ45 into a race truck I installed a set and for years doing Cross Country Road trips never had an issue.

Great! Assume you have a 3spd or have you upgraded that also? Wondering with a stock 3 spd, what speed I could comfortably cruise at on the freeway .

1F, 3 speed, 33 inch tires, Honestly on the flat I could cruise at 70mph no problem, I was never in a hurry getting anywhere States like Utah, Colorado where we had some major grades we'd be as slow as 50mph

IIRC, third in a 3 speed and fourth in a 4 speed are both 1:1. You need a 5 speed to get an overdrive gear (or an overdrive).

I would be more than happy with that! Was that in a 55 though? They are a bit heavier
The 55 had 4:10 gears its what I call a poor mans overdrive LOL Its not going to be rock crawling and I am happy cruising fire roads in 1st gear Low even with the 3:73's When I get it finished I will do some videos and testing to give everyone a better idea. Like I said I was always happy with the 3:73's in the 45

Getting the rear axle buttoned up, after some serious cleaning and replacing the pinon seal I got the new 3rd installed, cleaned up the brakes and removed the axle seal for replacement tomorrow. E brake and drum is finished so the goal tomorrow is finish the rear axle and start on the springs. Once those are done I will get the tank pulled. I really happy with my timeline and when I am done everything associated with the drivetrain will have been checked and or gone through.

New seals and axles are installed, Started on the passenger side and got the spring cleaned and painted. Anyone who has ever started a project like this knows its a Rabbit Hole. We start by telling ourselves I'm just gonna replace the bushings and next thing you know everything is apart LOLOL
