Are there cold air intakes available for FJ62's?

Thanks

tranny issue

hello, excuse this question if it's been asked previously. own a 2007 fj cruiser. purchased new in april, last year. the vehicle's been flawless however, today, placed it into 4wd which from the onset has been an issue, VERY difficult to get it back into neutal. this evening it wouldn't go out of 4wd. i do this routinely every 30-45 days driving it a few miles. with gas prices, this is a killer and now, the truck appears stuck in 4wd. have an automatic, almost 12K miles. the 4wd shifter moves as if it's in neutal but obviously isn't. i'm in a bind because i'm traveling monday, and the beast is SUCKIN' down the fuel. thoughts, suggestions!?

No, like are there K&N filters out there, not just the filter but the system? If that makes any sense. K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake.

Like that ^ but for a 62 obviously.

Thanks

I doubt it... if you're lookin for extra power from an FJ62 you need to replace the engine with an SBC or something similar.

Now a snorkel would be cool, and you will actually get cooler air flowing into the engine, and less dirt. I also wouldn't put a K&N (or similar) on the Cruiser, the stock Toyota setup is pretty darn good.

My $.02

The snorkel is a cold air intake. Most people thinks it is just for water crossing but it brings in much colder air at the roof level than you would get down at the grill. It also keeps the air much cleaner. I have compared my filter to that of my running mates after a day or weekend on dusty trails and there is a huge difference.

Might have better luck with this if you start a new thread with a title.

Hmm Ill look into snorkels, what are they around $300?

Question about snorkels, Some buddies of mine (who dont have LandCruisers) say that snorkels take away a lot of power. Is that true?

-Thanks

If the snorkel is hooked up correctly then they are wrong. It forces colder and cleaner air into engine. It is the same principle as the current cold air intake. On a hot day go out and check the temp at the bumper/grill are and then at the roof line. It will be much cooler at the roof. Fuel injected trucks work and preform better with cooler air(i.e. cold air intake.) You truck should preform better with it although its not like you are dropping in a V8. It will be a small increase and perhaps not even noticeable to you. It will help the engine with cleaner and cooler air. This is not a new invention. Snokels have been in use in down under for years.

Alright. Well whenever I have some extra money and I hav nothing else to get for my truck, I'll take a look at snorkels.

Thanks

Your probably right, except that the snorkel is 300 or so dollars and the glasspack me and my buddies put on was 30....

Wait till you and your buddies lay out the template for the snorkel and you have to drill a big F**king hole in the fender. That will make your but pucker. Remeasured mine several time.

I dont see me and my buddies installing a snorkel haha. Its not that we couldnt I can just see us messing it up horribly:hillbilly:. IF I get one (which I dont see happening anytime soon) I would either take it somewhere to get installed, or meet up with someone off of here to help with it.
