I just changed my first spark plug and had a bit of trouble getting the coil pack to get back down. Took it out and looked at it and it looked like this:

Then I put it in again, still having trouble and pulled it out and it looked this this:

Today is Sunday so I think Toyota is closed. Can I run with a coil pack broken like this temporarily and buy some online?

Is there a good aftermarket coil pack brand I could buy at O'Reillys? Or should I wait for OEM?

Also, if other coil packs have cracks, should I immediately replace them as well? This spark plug change is getting expensive!

Thanks!

Can I use the broken one to move the car 10 feet? Dealership opens at 6am tomorrow and I don't want to get a ticket :(

I just didn't want to throw the CEL. Put it in and was able to move it without issue. I'll pick up a couple of coil packs first thing tomorrow and get her back on the road.

You can move it 10 ft with even that one coil pack removed.

Quite a few of my coil packs had cracks when I removed them to do the valve cover gasket. I simply mixed up some epoxy and put it over the cracks so they would last a lot longer. Mine are OEM Toyota Denso.
You can look online and find the Denso "packs for around 80$or $90 a piece.

I had one break off the entire bottom section - took me about an hour with a with a couple small picks to pull it out/break it up that I could get the rest out with the shop vac. You can pick up an oem denso from Napa for around $75 - $80. I bought the one to get me up and running, then searched up on ebay. Bought 8 new denso's for $35 each and replaced the rest along with one spare just in case.

Found the link to the seller on ebay - they are oem denso's:

Wow! Thanks for the link. Those are crazy cheap. Are you sure they are the same part #? At that price, maybe it is time to replace them all!?

The item number on them 90080-19027 is a match for the Toyota LC. The ones I bought were 90919-02230, which is what was molded on the ones I pulled from my 99 LC. I'm not sure why the different part numbers or which supersedes which. Do some quick research just to double check against some of the other parts suppliers.

And yea, at that price I figured why take any chances with 16yr old, 237k miles coil packs.

Thanks again for the link. Called Lexus to confirm the prt number. The 90080 is the new part number.

I ordered 8 and the seller gave them to me for $25 a piece.

Now I'm wondering if I should have ordered 9 so I could carry a spare. Hopefully the new ones will last as long as the old ones did!

Just save the best two of your old ones - you know they were working and would work in a pinch until you can order a new one if for some reason one of the new denso's fails.

Any follow up? How's the quality of the eBay ones? Are they the real deal or just really good looking replicas?

Just because they're from Ebay doesn't mean they're junk. Could just be overstock or whatever. I've purchased tons of car parts, including these very coil packs, with no problems whatsoever. Just buy from a reputable seller and you'll be fine.

The set I put in from this seller have been working flawlessly. I'm not sure where he gets these, but I'm pretty sure they are OEM. Makes me wonder what other OEM parts he may be able to provide for the LC specific.

Good find!

Wanted to double check. Ebay or not, less than 1/2 price makes it suspicious. I question things originating from China due to past experiences. Things can be easily replicated/copied and range from parts, fighter jets to pharmaceuticals and ebay is an easy avenue to market/sell items.
I've had some great and not so great experiences through ebay and amazon.com. I purchased a set of parking sensors on ebay for my LX570 to replace some that which have failed. Item looked very similar to OEM and was only $35 vs (OEM $200), but there are were some slight variances on labeling when placed side-by-side next to a Toyota OEM part. Physically, it looked identical and the seller had a 100% rating on ebay. The ebay one didn't work and the seller refunded my funds so no loss, but I ended up buying the real deal from Toyota.

Correct. I bought mine from an eBay seller, and they are new OEM Toyota packs, part numbers match. $40 each shipped. I was looking for the $30 ones mentioned (and linked) earlier in this thread, but they were sold out. $40 is still a good deal. Will let you know how the install goes.

Just an update. I installed my new coils today. The old packs looked really good (d'oh!) but at least I have some peace of mind with the new ones on. Worked perfectly; same as the OE ones. I can save a couple of them for backups, and maybe part the rest to fellow mudders.

I ordered from eBay seller "ganes.tiwar," he is based out of MN. Items as described, quick shipping, for brand new OEM Toyota coil packs. Sorry I don't have the link to the auction, but they were slightly less than $40 each includling shipping.
