anyone know where i can get a 10lb. CO2 tank refilled in the triangle area? i have called a couple welding supply places, fire extinguisher service places, paintball supply, and beverage places...either they don't do 10lb tanks or they only do cylinder exchanges. so far the only place i have been able to find that is able to do a refill is American Brewmaster, but they want $29 to refill a 10lb tank! anyone know of another place? thanks!

That is who I've used, American Brewmaster. But, their prices must have gone up. I haven't been able to find anybody else locally to get it done. The "homebrew" stores in Durham don't do it either...

They only do exchanges, they won't fill a tank and give it back. At least, none that I've found.

Any luck finding a cheaper place? I'm tempted to top off my tank before heading out to OBX next weekend, but don't feel like spending $20 or $30. I need to check the name of the place, but there is also a fire extinguisher place in Sanford that might fill them and would hopefully be cheaper. But it's a bit of a drive from Raleigh...

i stopped looking after getting topped off at Metro Fire & Safety.
Thanks, I'll try American Brewmaster. I hate to pay that much, but they are just down the street from my office, so it's worth the convenience.
I called Airgas National Welders on Capital today and they do not fill tanks. They only do exchanges. The person I spoke to was helpful and told me the only two places he knew that filled tanks were American Brewmaster and Pye Barker Fire Safety.

Pye Barker also performs hydrostatic testing (required every 5 years). Unfortunately, I realized today that my used tank needs a hydro before I can get it filled again.

That does help. When I need to get mine tested, I'll know where to take it. I've got to get mine filled before this weekend, now I have another choice to check out...
FWIW, Pye Barker quoted me $40 to fill a 10lb tank and $25 for the hydro. By comparison American Brewmaster is $30 to fill. Both seem pretty high.

Based on the prices and relative inconvenience of filling my own 10lb tank, I'm tempted to pony up and get a 5lb. exchange with Airgas...
National Welders (Amerigas) here in Charleston do the refills or swaps.....but they are expensive. $27 for 10lb tank but only place in area I could find.
The paint ball shop would not change their prices for a bulk fill since they are used to charging $5 for a 1lb canister for paint ballers.....I guess me telling them they were FREAKING CRAZY if they thought I was paying $50 for a 10lb tank..... So I told the 10 guys in their shop that they could go get their gas cheaper at Amerigas than pay those prices....LOL
