From the research I did, Yes. Can't remember exact specifics but I think the head gaskets were the same. I always wanted to get a bad head to compare, and to take to the machine shop so they could get the dizzy hole correct.
There were some "big-head" or something like that overseas after 97 that had more HP. Not sure if these are the ones or not.
