I’ve been having this problem for a few months now, Starting off in 1st letting the clutch out, I’m getting a pretty violent shudder with a slight feeling of slack. If I stopped by using engine compression prior, I get the slack feeling.

It seems to get a little worse after 4 or 5 takeoffs and during warmer weather.
The clutch is a stock replacement about 4 years ago, I don’t drive much so the mileage is low. Looking up where the inspection plate “should be” (don’t have one) the clutch looks almost new looking at the edge anyways, I can see that it still has groves in the friction material.

There is oil liking from I think the rear main but that gets slung away from the disk and pressure plate. There is oil on the inside of the bell housing but none appear to be on the clutch. Starting off in a high gear the clutch won’t slip, just in shaky in first for a few feet taking off.

This is the 70 series forum,I presume you are talking about the 80 series in your sig line?

Sounds like its slipping. The compression braking is probably heating it up.
Did you change the pressure plate and machine the flywheel.

Those don’t come stock in an 80, they don’t come in any 80.
Of course I had the flywheel surfaced and the clutch kit was new not rebuilt.

“The compression braking is probably heating it up” What? I have to start before I can brake and it does it from the get go.

The only thing different that happens when compression braking is the takeoff, feels like a split second of slack, as if I had no clutch dampening springs anymore. But I think I’d hear some noises…

I always compression brake every vehicle I’ve owned and never had a clutch problem like this.

we have all read your sig but if you post in the 70 series section normally you have a question about a 70 series vehicle ,have you red what section you have posted in

sometimes in turbo work utes if you ride the clutch a bit with a bit to much acceleration they get a slight vibration shudder ,as every thing is loading up but the clutch is not quite engaged

You dont have to get all snotty about it. It helps if you tell us what you got from the start. You wouldn't be the 1st to have a H41 in an 80.
A bit of background info also helps ,how are we supposed to know whether you have had the flywheel machined or not
It would also help if you read the forum heading properly and posted your problems with your heap of s*** in the appropriate forum.
Jeez:rolleyes:
