i am due for clutch replacement, i have an 85 lj70 2.4 liter deisel non turbo and i wanted to get any opinion and recomendation. i use this truck as dd. i was lookimg exedy 1607118

Never had to replace my clutch, yet. Knock on wood! But since the original has lasted over 25 years without a second's trouble, I'd certainly be inclined to put in another Toyota original. Why aftermarket clutch?

Original Toyota should be good enough.

In Australia you can get a heavy duty clutch from Exedy for $300 less than the dealer.
There is nothing wrong with Toyota's clutches, but they are not the only ones that can make an excellant clutch.

the high cost of the oem is my issue since i've heard good review of the exedy and less money so i am inclining of going this route.

rosco, do have a suggestion on what kind of exedy is good i use my truck as dd. exedy 1607118 is for hilux 2l-t, i my is 85 lj70 2l non turbo does it make any difference?

Exedy make clutches for a lot of the car and truck manufacturers, so there are no issues with their reliability. Genuine Isuzu truck clutches are made by exedy. And yeah they're usually cheaper when you get them aftermarket

If the cost is less then you should consider exedy. Good enough clutch.

I recently had to replace the throwout bearing on my HJ75 so I replaced the clutch at the same. Never really considered aftermarket.

exedy clutch is made in Malaysia, so it is a popular choice among Malaysian

Funny they are made in Malaysia.
Ordered exedy for my kzj71 project from Oz:rolleyes:

I had the Sportstuff ,it was ok but ti got a littler heavy on my leg.Next time Im getting a standard type

I dont think the torque difference between a 2L and 2LT would be a concern.
Other owners with the bigger 6cyl engines use the same clutch for turbo and non turbo engines. I think the 2H and 12HT use the same clutch from Toyota
Im sure Exedy would answer your question if you are in any doubt.
If you went with the heavier duty sportstuff you would be ok for sure. But do you want the heavy clutch feel on a DD?

Ive always had good service from Malaysian and Taiwanese parts and I never hesitate to buy them if they are on offer.
