Hi all,

I replaced my clutch recently, and something sounds/looks "funny" so I'm hoping to get some advice please.

The clutch works fine. But, when I have the clutch pedal adjusted up from the floor to the FSM value, the throwout bearing just slightly rubs against the clutch. Result is noise, from the clutch hub wobbling a bit on the front cover of the tranny. Also, the throwout bearing is therefore spinning all the time.

Should the throwout bearing be spinning all the time, or only when the clutch is depressed?

If I adjust the pedal closer to the floor, the throwout bearing presses a little harder against the clutch, the hub stops wobbling, and the noise goes away. But the throwout bearing is still spinning all the time.

If I try to adjust the pedal away from the floor as far as possible, trying to get the throwout bearing to not touch the clutch, then the slave cylinder won't extend enough, I still get the noise, and the throwout bearing is still spinning all the time.

I've never done a clutch before, so am learning as I go. I don't want to mess up the adjustment, and have the throwout bearing fail prematurely...

Any and all advice appreciated please.

Thankyou!

I don't think the throwout bearing should be touching the clutch disc when the pedal is not depressed. When you are adjuting the pedal height are you also adjusting the push rod length to get the correct push rod free play (1-5mm)?

Mines doing the same thing- I lubed up the dust cover boot with some grease and it has helped 75% of the noise and grinding. I think the boot being new was not letting the fork release as it should.

But I still want to adjust the pedal some.

Doh!!! I did not adjust the pedal free play - In fact I just went and checked, and have no free play at all. Opps...

Question - do I adjust the free-play first, then the pedal height second?

Really appreciate the help on this!

Thankyou!
