Hey yall, I noticed a "clunk" noise coming from the drivers side front wheel when I turn hard left at low speed. It's not super loud but it's noticable. Happens sometimes when I do a U turn, but more often when I do a reverse 3 point turn. Doesn't always do it, but i would say 3/5 times when I do a reverse 3 point turn it does. Any idea what that could be? If you turn up the volume you can hear it in the video. Doesn't seem to happen when I turn right

Is the wheel turned all the way? If yes it might be stops. You can see them under the knuckles, just look under no need to remove the wheel. Good idea to hit them with some waterproof grease when you rotate wheels /tires.

No, I have the wheel turned almost all the way and it makes the noise. Also only seems to be in left turns. Lastly, it might not be coming from the left front, could be the driveline. It’s hard to say for sure. I genuinely appreciate the input though.

Does it happen while you are stationary? If so, if you are stationary with your foot on the brake and you turn the wheel lock to lock do you hear this clunk/pop a few times and then it disappears until you roll forward or backward again? I would first look at the lower control arm bushings.

Sorry I should have mentioned, this only happens when in motion. It does not happen when I’m stationary turning the wheel. I can sort of feel the clunk, ever so slightly. I also think it only happens when applying power, as I don’t remember it doing when just rolling with foot off both pedals. Appreciate the question though

So it never does this while stationary? Do you have to be accelerating before you hear it? Is there anything in the vehicle or attached to it that might shift and clunk like this?

never does it while stationary, and yes it seems like i have to be pressing the accelerator for it to happen. I have skids and sliders installed but they are firmly in place and I don't think they could be responsible. I can't think of anything else that could be moving around. 🤷‍♂️

Does it do this while you’re going over rough pavement or a speed bump or uneven/off-camber like entering a sloped driveway?

I think so, unless I just never noticed it before (but i'm usually pretty sensitive to this type of stuff) The only thing I could think of is I tried the crawl control tight turn feature for the first time the day before I noticed this happening.

For whatever it is worth, I believe my truck (14 LX) occasionally does this same thing as I accelerate out of a three point turn or some other technical movement when the steering wheel is near full lock. I have 305/55s, which are fairly wide, and I believe it is the tire rubbing on the sway bar, which has witness marks on it. Could be wrong.

Can you pinpoint a clear simple maneuver that creates the sound? Then, can you pinpoint where in that maneuver it happens? We may infer the cause based on the suspension and/or drive terrain geometry.

It could be that it may still be partially active. Which would not make sense. But It may be. Before you do anything else, disconnect the battery and then reconnect. This may reset modes back to normal. If the sound goes away, then that was it.

No idea on clunk but if you disconnect the battery, make sure to have steering wheel straight or it may recalibrate itself off center when battery is reconnected.
(Info from another thread I have been reading since I have that issue/annoyance)

Is the LC completely stock? One of my aftermarket upper control arms was making a thud sound when going over bumps and when turning.

Interesting, I don’t think this is a tire rub because I’m using the stock tires (hoping to upgrade soon) and it happens while the steering wheel is in the same position. Just a quick clunk/clank noise. Nothing super concerning but just curious what it might be
