DuManchu is needing ideas/content for our website reconstruction. Any and all ideas are welcome. Consider this a brainstorming session - no ideas are too off the wall.

Also, if you've seen a website that has a similar feel to what you are interested in, post the link as well.

I'll get it started:
  • Contact info
  • Club calendar (something easy to add to or update)
  • Membership info (forms) & links to pay / renew via paypal
  • Merchandise w/ links to order and pay via paypal

chris,
a section for club event photos or videos would be nice....also maybe club member vehicle photos would be cool

Here are some of the things we're going to include:
A calendar of events somewhere.
Links to the TAC message board and TLCA.
Who we are, what we do, and how to contact us.
Online merchandise purchasing??

That pretty much sums up what I've got so far.

A photo gallery would be a nice addition. Don't know about member rigs unless it was managed by the owners of the vehicles.

Preliminary design:

I don't know which logo to use yet so take that with a grain of salt. And it will say "Tornado Alley Cruisers" somewhere in the top banner.

i kinda liked the old logo with the cruiser and the funnel cloud on it....just a thought...is there any artwork for that logo?

I've only seen that logo once or twice, I would gladly use it if I cold get the original artwork from someone.

Members info section
Tech tips, How-to section
Land use section

I kind of like the members rig(s) area idea. someplace to post buildup threads, I'm always interested in that others are working on. (granted we have that here already)

edit: a mac???? :0

Members info section
Tech tips, How-to section
Land use section
Members info, good, depending on the info.

Tech tips may be a bit over-reaching and an unnecessary doubling of info that's already available in spades on IH8MUD. But who knows, could work out ok.

Land use is a good one, not many people understand the basic rules/regulations for offroad trails.

Dern tootin its a Mac :D

Well that explains everthing! :D j/K

Members info, good, depending on the info.

is it possible to make this info available to club members like "members only"? I'd rather keep it closed to the general public. I may be able to assist with some the techicalities, not directly but by channeling through my brothers who are both software developers. they're kind of like having my own little "geek squad" but they work for nothing.

We could let Mike wheel with us again, for a "geek squad services fee".:D

In the past, our member info has been limited to name and city/state. We have had links to club officer's e-mail addresses to funnel requests for info, etc., but with the way websites are mined for that data these days I'd discourage that.

Members info, good, depending on the info.
Name, location/contact info (down to whatever details the member wants to disclose),
picture of his/her truck, list of mods (in case someone is interested in those, they would know who to ask)
?

I put down member's info, but the intention was really to have info on members rigs, with maybe a brief bio (optional).

Hehe, if the guy didn't live so far away he'd probably do anything just to be able to hang out with us again. :D

It is actually my other bro who I'll solicit for technical knowledge. He does web design for a living... (again, only if interested. Looks like Du has it covered)

If he could give me a hand with some things that would be great. Its getting harder for me to find time to work on this stuff with school and the wedding coming up.

I'll PM you if I get to some points I could use a hand on. I don't think the initial version of the website will be overly complex.

Rob, I'll give ya a buzz sometime in the near future to get the CD from ya, not sure when though.
