It looks like the company that has been hosting our web site free finally took it down. I haven't been in contact with them yet but I think they are out of business.

I'd like to put discussing this matter on our agenda for the meeting this week.

Meanwhile, does anybody know someone who would host our sit and maybe help with the web site?
I think we may have to re-create our site because I no longer have the original files, they were on a PC that I haven had in a couple of years.

One of our domains is up for renewal in November, this is battleborncruisers.org, the ,.com domain is good until Sept 2017.
Hopefully i will have more information by the meeting.

Dan what was the decision on this during the meeting?
I used to be a web designer so I can offer some information and/or help with the club website if needed. We don't really need anything super spectacular so we maybe able to get away with something like WIX.com or even the "free" site you are supposed to get with your Charter account. I would have to look into it but think that something simple like WordPress (blogging type) hosting would be the cheapest at something like $5/mo.

Update;
I got in touch with the owner of the hosting service, he is a great guy and gave us years of free hosting for nothing more than a one line prom of his company.
Bottom line he got hacked which led to a huge bandwidth bill, since the hosting was a hobby thing for him he decided to cut his losses and get out of the business.

Greg, at the meeting Kurt volunteered to take on the web site.

I'm going to see if I can find the HTML files from the old site, but it wouldn't take more than an hour or two to make a new page. It was basically a landing pad with a short intro to the club and a link to this forum.

We voted to keep and pay for the names we have and Kurt was going to get us a free sustainable presence on the web. So that,s good. Thanks in advance Kurt for taking this endeavor on.

battleborncruisers.org is alive again... just a single page hosted at Google's blogspot Sites. As is battleborncruisers.com (redirects to battleborncruisers.org).
