So we did some talking about buying an FJ40 at the meeting this weekend, and decided to pursue it. But after having some one local to Roseburg look at it, and talking to the guy some more, it sounds like it's pretty rusty, and the title is not in the guys name, so we're going to pass on this one. It's not worth $500 or a trade for some type of firearm..... :D Se keep your ears open for a decent deal on a mechanics special!!!

Thanks J, meant to post something but been swamped.

What J said. Rough 40, no rad, and previous owners paperwork not the person selling it.

What is the plan with the club said vehicle. Sounds like a good idea just wondering what we will do once it is done.

The idea is to have a spare vehicle for people to borrow for runs if they (you) don't want to drive their wheeler to wherever we're playing, or don't want to wreck their nice truck etc. At the end of the day if we can sell it and make $1 then great. The club has some discretionary money, so we might as well do something fun with it! :D

It does seem like there are alot of times when runs are possible but someone's rig is out of commission for one reason or the other. They could "rent" the club rig and pay the rent by donating to it's improvement fund or maybe make an improvement directly to the vehicle. We could also consider something that holds a good load of members in case they'd prefer to all pile in the club rig for a road trip like to Cruise the Woods or Pismo. Maybe a rock crawling version of the short yellow bus I used to ride to school in..? :D

If you go "short bus" way you might not have much room for all the peoples 'stuff' on those trips. Just a thought.
Sounds like a wagon might fit that bill unless there's a trailer involved.

The club vehicle won't be insured so it will be tow-barred places. With respect to that It will need to be a smaller lighter vehicle such as a fj40. Even then it would be a heavy haul with something like an fzj80 towing it.

Here are a few pictures of the $500 cruiser here in the Roseburg area. Let me know if you need more. I have them.

Thanks Mike.

Did you get my PM?

That looks like it needs a lot of work! Just a thought for a club vehicle, if you are looking for something on the lighter side with room, why not have Jippy track down another 1st Gen 4Runner?

Cause the Jippy would horde it and then sell it in his own jippy's ways.

Yeah the jip is a horder. You should see all the old mcdonalds wrappers he has horded under his bed. Don't ask why I was under his bed.... dang-it! Ok I was stalking again! Geesh, I'm gonna have to go to stalkers anonymous!

fawking jippers.

(no other thread was harmed in the making of this one, so have at it:hillbilly:)

is that what happend to my Mc D's..... Dang Jippie! first I get Gottfried and now Jippied..... WHATS NEXT?!!?

Whats the budget set on the purchase price.

The cheaper the better! I kinda think we were shooting for sub $1000 depending on work needed... But they don't let me use the check book so i will let our fearless dic-tator do the dic-tating. Watcha got in mind?

Cool idea guys. I think we talked about this at one of our club meetings years ago as well, but nothing ever panned out. I've even thought about putting one of my cruisers in my will and have it go to club uses.

But that 40 looks pretty damn rough!

Rode hard and put out to pasture wet.......:frown:. Makes me sad to see it so neglected. I Think the club should get a 45 and turn it into a recovery vehicle with a hook on it, you know like a Jap verion of Mater from that movie Cars. :meh:

Even better just adopt my Rig. I can't afford to put gas in it for trips very often. Just take it when you want to go out wheeling.

Never mind.
