My dryer doesnt want to get hot.
Everything seems to be working ok but it refuses to heat up.
I checked the vent and cleaned the tube. OK

Any help out there?

btw 4 year old kenmore gas jobber.

Thanks,

ken

check the gas flow, maybe somebody down the line shut off the valve and you don't know it. The next suspect would be the ignition system.

The gas should be going to the unit but I will crack the fitting to make sure.
The ignition system sounds like a good one.
Will there be a panel to get/test the system.
Im trying to arm my self before I go back at it, (pita to get to).

Thanks,

ken

I'd check the orifice to make sure that's it's clear.
Also, do you hear the flame come on full blast after the initial startup? If the IGN sequence isn't starting, then find out if some sort of a fail safe event got triggered.

I'm not able to offer much more than this. When I converted ours to LP, I was impressed by the simplicity of the whole shoot n match.

Gas dryers also have high limit safeties. Get an Ohm meter and meter the safeties. They should all be closed or near zero Ohms.

Some gas igniters have to be reset after attempting to ignite a certain amount of times, cycle the power.

My electric went out yesterday, I get to play with it tonight.

Ok; I checked it last night .
Put a meter on the safetys and ok, but I couldnt check this while running sooo maybe not accurate?

When I hooked it back up It lit off and ran for a short time then somehow the heat went away.

I did a couple re starts sometime worked sometime not, Im thinking about getting a new high limit sensor and a new belt while im in there.

btw I called sears for help......................... Ya that was helpful.......

Just an update;

Installed two new solenoids/coils "main gas solenoids"

All is right with the world.

Thanks for update. Was it something you did yourself? How much was the repair? Just wondering whether to throw out/replace if anything goes wrong with our dryer or cost effective to repair when I can't troubleshoot myself.

Let me start by saying It was a PITA the dryer is in a bad spot for maintenance.
Parts 75. for a part that did not fix it and around 45. for two solanoids.
Replacing the unit was not an option, the thing was in real good shape in and out.
This repair took a while to troubleshoot and it kinda sucked trying to figure out how to dry clothes ( my grandparents would be ashamed).
I think if your dryer looks ok (mechanically) I believe repair is the way to go,

+ I hate throwing things away.
