I screwed the pooch and left a ton of paint in my hvlp gun (krylon)

What is the best solvent to dissolve the paint and clean up the gun?? It is already in pieces and soaking in paint thinner (in a sonic bath)


I am about 5 mins from soaking everything in brake cleaner.. But I suspect that will take too long..

I need to paint the racecar!!!

Gun wash should dissolve that stuff, it will not help if it were primer.

DAD'S Paint stripper.


Blue 1 gallon can that looks like a colman fuel can. It is sold at Wal mart for about $20.00 per gallon.


It will eat "O" rings as well as flesh.

Gun wash is usually sold at most auto stores were they sell paint and supplies, only problem is you gotta buy a five gallons. Mind you its got a heck of a shelf life and its pretty cheap stuff.

Edit, prolly should break the gun down into parts before soaking then get a cleaning brushs made for gun wash, that stuff melts most brushes.

This stuff is similar to muratic acid. It takes paint off of 100 year cabinets 5 layers at a time.

Mace tear down the gun and clean it with MEK if you can find any. Try your local Napa. You will need a tip cleaner if you do not have one
