Hi,
I recently purchased a 1993 80 series from overseas and i was very happy with the condition it came in.
I recently had to do an overhaul on both birfs because the axle seals were worn.
I thought it may have been a bad bearing, but after the rebuild, the problem remains.
When i come to a complete stop say at a red light, everything is normal, but as soon as i go to accelerate, i think i hear a slight clink noise from the front end, and i can feel it in the steering wheel as well.
Its as if the toe of the wheels are shifting, forward when i stop, then back again when i accelerate.
I have 3 ideas what the problem may be, but was wanting some opinions first.
I was thinking it could be the steering damper shifting around, but i'm not sure if that could be felt through the steering wheel.
I thought maybe it could be loose tie rod ends, maybe the ball-joints are worn and causing some play in the toe.
And lastly, i thought it could be a worn out intermediate steering shaft, but i'm really not too familiar with them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Paul
