My 2016 land cruisers climate control isn’t saving its settings anymore, it used to put the ventilated seats on and the temp set to what is was left at when I got in and started it. Not sure what changed, but it was at the dealer for an oil change and the battery also died when I was running the radio with the car off. But now it’s always set at 75 when I get in with the fan at the lowest setting and have to manually turn on the ventilated seats, which it won’t let me do for at least 20 seconds after it’s started, please help !

Did they check/change the cabin air filter? You should check it yourself to make sure the filter cover is working. It should be open when you press recirculate and close when its on the outside air setting. If its not doing that there is a problem. If it is forced open it will screw the actuator up and your AC won't work properly. I lock my glove box and remove the key from the fob before taking mine in for service.

Can a bad recirc door make the AC lose its set point though?

Its a simple thing to check. If it can't automatically switch modes because the recirc door is not working I can see it sort of going into "limp mode" for lack of a better term. 75 may be the default?

I found this link. Similar issue.

Check this link too. That recirc door can cause mischief if it's broken during service.

Hey folks,

just had this problem with my wifes 2017 landcruiser, ended up being a very easy fix for us, the battery was on the brink of going bad and when vehicle was cranked it would drain the battery enough to cause ecu's to loose there memory.... We never once had a starting issue, so make sure you look at this basic thing before diving into major diag, I got lucky while testing some things with the key on for about 10 minutes I went to crank it and the battery was to weak to crank, that got me thinking, so I used a jump pack to start it, let it run to charge up battery cleared all ecu data, then the next morning before trying to crank I hooked up the jump box, amazingly everything was set exactly how I left it, and this has been an ongoing issue with my wifes 200 for about 2 months, I own a shop and just didn't have time to dive into it for a couple months!

I had the same issue after the Dealer replaced my 2021 Toyota Landcruiser cabin air filter
As soon as you start the car, AUTO AC light would come on but no lights on recirc/auto/fresh air button. And the fan would not run and no driver/passenger temp display either. Looked like the whole climate control system was in shutdown mode. After 15 seconds or so, climate control would come on reset to 75 degrees and would forget my previous settings when I stopped the car. It was very easily reproducible every time I shut down and locked the car.
I had not broken the recirc/fresh door in front of the filter as I was very particular about it and read all the instructions before replacing the filter.

I re-installed it correctly and seated it above the blower pressing all four sides, you should here the filter "click" in. Need skinny hands to get in the back of it. Since then its fixed and climate control works normally as before.

For anyone else, any time you go to the dealer lock your glove box and keep the key blade with you! This is the only way to be sure they don't break your recirc flap, and often when it does break you don't know for a long time and there isn't a way to prove the dealer did it.
