Every time when i switch climate control ('03 with navigation) to "auto" my flow direction changes to "floor". I really would like to avoid that or choose some other default option. Any thoughts?

In the year I've owned my 07 LX, I've seen the auto climate control shift out of 'floor' mode once. I'd also love to hear if there's some way to change it's default operation.

our 03 does not do that IIRC. However, what it will -annoyingly- do is to always start -and stay for the longest time- on Highest Fan setting.

added: I'm thinking A/C though, don't know about heating, might be different. Makes perfect sense to heat low.

On our 04 on AUTO and Heat it always blows on the floor. When it's really cold I manually override and use the mix floor/dash setting. When it's hot out and AC is blowing cold air it blows out of center vents most of the time.

Rear works same way on our side. Now that it's cold and rear set to AUTO it always blows our the floor.

This may be obvious, but hot air rises. Blowing out the floor vents helps to mix the air and raise the temp of the entire vehicle more evenly. When you turn on the AC you'll notice it defaults to the higher vents for the same reason.

My '03 with nav sometimes does mysterious things climate control wise, but 'auto' seems to work well most of the time and sends the heat where it's needed ie. some to defrost when frosty. Biggest complaint is that sometimes I have seem to have to turn the temp up really high to get warm enough. I sometimes have to hit the fan button with lots of people and wet gear in the back.

One thing that might work for you is to use 'auto' in conjunction with the 'rear' heat button. I find that when I really want to warm the entire cabin that works great and spreads the heat around.
