After 10 years of normal wear n tear on my rig I'm having a really hard time getting this tar/brake dust off of my rims. Any helpful tips? I've tried scrubbing for hours, but not all of it will come off.

I've painted my wheels black, so I never have to worry about cleaning them. However, on my daily driver I like to keep my wheels as clean as possible. Since you say you've already scrubbed it well, the next thing I would do is get a clay bar and rub them down really good.

It's kind of a waste to use a new clean clay bar on your wheels since they will be completely messed up afterwards, so I would first suggest to clay bar your whole car with it, then when the bar is already soiled then take it to your wheels. You'll be amazed how nice and smooth both your paint and wheels will look after a good claying.

It really depends how bad it really is, but for the most part, yeah it can help alot. If your wheels have been neglected for years, then some the brake dust isn't coming out, but it won't hurt to try.
