So LC is back from my mechanic and much needed maint items like TB, water pump, and plugs are done.
Took today to thoroughly clean the interior.....every nook and cranny! Tomorrow I'll tackle the seats with scrubbed bubbles as suggested by a fellow MUD member; worked great for them so I'm hoping for the same results!

Not gonna lie, I'm loving this tank :) The newer amenities and increased HP are nice!

One thing I'm thinking of is cutting my front bumper at an angle as a temporary fix until I can get a real front bumper! I want to cut it at an angle so as to keep the fog lights intact. Has anyone done this??

And how pervasive is rust underneath the OEM roof rack? I think I'll take a peak at that tomorrow as well :hmm:

Also want to say, the fog lights are a pain in the ass! My DS fog light looked like a swamp! Took it out and could not get into it, even after trying to drill inside! I'm done with it, gonna order a $50 replacement and be done with it :meh:

Instead of cutting the front bumper, you might be able to find a local member with one laying around who replaced it with a plate bumper. Just an idea instead of hacking it.

I recently removed mine from a 98 LC at 240k. One of the bolt heads in one of the middle towers was rusted badly, but came out easily once I was able to get a grip on it. Surprisingly, there was no other rust under the tracks or towers. Just some scratches from the plastic towers rubbing the roof.

Also, the Leatherique stuff is awesome at bringing the leather back to life.

Same experience here, rusted bolt heads, that's it.

I'm hearing how difficult and pricey it is to replace the starter if it goes out; has anyone done this as a PM item? Mine has 285K and I'm wondering how close I am to being stranded someplace due to the contacts wearing out. On my 4R I had the OEM starter rebuilt and that worked out great.

Starter is one that lets you know when it's going bad and you have some time before it will strand you. Replacing the contacts is way cheaper than a new starter, and not that much more work once you've torn out half the engine getting to the starter.

I'd totally play around and experiment with chopping that damaged bumper. personally I'd cut it with like a 45* angle on the side and then try repairing the vertical crack. Try some PC-7 2-part epoxy on the back-side only and embed/reinforce it with something like a mesh of some sort. PC-7 and PC-11 are the strongest consumer grade epoxy I know of. If it fails, find a used stock cover.
