Jun (Sat 21) Brown's Canyon/4 Mile

Meet at the Divide Philips 66 at 8:00 am. Leave at 8:15 and go to the Gunsmoke parking lot at 9:30 group with others and leave at 9:45.

Remember to bring a GMRS radio (we use channel 5-0), recovery gear, coffee, sodas and lunch.

Please reply to this thread if you plan on going on this day.

I'm beginning a windshield and roof rust repair project on 6/2, so it'll be a race against the clock to have it completed in time for this ride.

I will be stopping at the Divide Philips for breakfast at 8:00am and departing for the Gunsmoke at 8:15am (sooner if nobody else is planning to stop here).

We had four rigs on the trail run: FJ 40 with Offroad trailer, FJ 60, FJ 80, and LX 470, from model years 1977 through 2001. It was exciting to have four generations of Land Cruisers. We started on FR307 east of Johnson Village and worked our way to Bald Mountain, where we drove a tight trail to the top and had lunch. After coming back down to the base, we worked our way down Brown’s Canyon to the BLM recreation site.
One of our party decided to drive home and the other three of us went back up the canyon, turning south on FR185D, and coming to a gorgeous campsite where our FJ40 driver set up camp. The other two of us worked our way back towards FR307 and we came across the bighorn sheep shown in the photos.
It was a hot and windy day with lots of dust and we covered some great trails.
