Hi all,

I'm a cruiser newbie and unfortunately don't know a lot about the differences between FJ and BJ trucks. I have an 83 BJ60 that I'm buying new wheels for, I am looking at the M/T Black Classic IIs in a 16" with 3 5/8" backspacing, p/n 1268412.

There are a few posts with people running these without an issue on FJ models - can anyone tell me if these will fit without modification on an BJ60? I measured my stock backspacing at 3.25", there doesn't look to be a whole lot of extra space to the tie rod end but maybe with the 16" rim there is enough room. I'd be quite happy to go with something with a little more backspacing (~4") if I can run it without modifications or spacers, I don't particularly need to widen the stance but I do want to go with a 16 inch wheel and I can't find any appropriately sized 16x7 wheels.

I realize there are a lot of posts on the forum regarding wheel fitment, I have looked everything I can find but I want to make sure I get bolt on wheels before ordering them.

Thanks,

Jon

All 60 series wagons came with (externally) identical front hubs, and as far as I know the difference between full-float and semi-float rear axles doesn't affect wheel fitment.

Now, another thing: stock 60-series (and later 40-series) wheels are 15x6 with 3.5" backspacing, but 3.25" seems to work a bit better with bigger wheels and tires.

With a 16" wheel, people commonly get 3.75" backspaced wheels to fit without spacers, but that has more to do with the way the inside of the wheel is designed, than with the backspacing. However, I've seen, here on the forum, that those Mickey Thompson wheels, with that backspacing, are known to work nicely on 60 series wagons.
