Hello folks!

I've had an HDJ81 Cruiser for a couple of years and I really love it but I think I've been bitten by 100-series bug and before I go shopping for one, I want to make sure I understand something correctly.

My research on this great site suggests that the 98-99 model years had an optional rear locker and no ATRAC. From 00-07 there is no locker but ATRAC is standard. Does that mean that a 98-99 WITHOUT the locker is open-open with a center diff lock and NO electronic aids? Did they come with at least a LSD out back in place of the locker?

If the above is correct, wouldn't that make the 98-99 w/o locker the least desirable model? Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this!

Cheers,

Maybe so, in terms of "desireability", but the '98-'99's w/o locker are pretty rare. They exist, but it seems the vast majority of them came with the locker. '98 LC doesn't have rear life-support, if that matters to you (but LX does, IIRC)...

Yes, never heard of a 100-Series coming with a LSD option.

Why would that be? Most get the 98-99 with rear e-locker, then add a front ARB air locker and call it good!

All 98-99 US market LX's had rear LSD. Many, maybe all, Canadian market 98-99 LX's had rear diff lock. The LSD is not really that useful though.... perhaps if it was shimmed up tight it would work better.
