Heads up Cruiser guys, it's time to organize for the Victoria Day weekend.
Gary T, Barry P, possibly Mike McT, and myself are already prepping our vehicles
for the trip up to Churn Creek and environs. This is our first CC club run for
this season and a chance for everybody to join in. The base camp at Churn
is easy to reach, and excursions up into the hills is an optional challenge
that is worth pursuing.
I am probably going up on the Friday, May 20, and set up the base camp.
So, who is in?
~Bill
ps - good tires are a necessity if the clay based hillsides are wet and slick...

I will be joining the club and this will be my 3rd. My body armours are off the truck due to some pending body works that I will stick to the base camp and nearby easy places to reach. I can join the convoy on Friday.

Great! We can arrange meeting details as we get closer to May 20. Maybe at the May 12 CC meeting.

Question: is this easy enough to do with 2 leaked out rear shocks and a front shock with a likely damaged eyelet inside the lower ring?

Just make sure to take lots of photos and do a nice write-up for the Backroader magazine of the trail repair of this :D

Getting to the Churn Creek base camp is easy. Even a Honda Civic can do it if it's dry.
The trails above base camp require good suspension. I will be present at the base camp
so you can unload your gear, run empty,

and not worry about theft.
However, driving at high speed on 97 could be an issue if your rig starts shimmying and
goes into an uncontrollable death wobble. Keep your speed below 100 and you should be
ok.

Since my USD$5,000 stage 5 rear extended travel kit with new lower links isn't happening any time soon, I'll just spend half that amount on gas getting to Churn, we're in!

Looks like it was a website error... turns out its only ~$1,700... I thought inflation was a bit high

So far we have Gary T, Barry P, Mike McT, Ruwi, Pete, & myself. Jeff is a definite maybe.
Mike suggests we exit Hwy 1 at Lytton, and cross the river on to Lillooet, then take the
Pavillion Road to Kelly Lake, and on to Churn Creek. We can discuss it at the CC meeting
May 12. I'm heading up there on Friday morning, May 20. My rig is already packed, serviced,
and ready to go. My wife still has to buy my groceries...

Garry B is going as well.

As a first-timer to the area camping, what's the protocol for firewood, assuming there's no fire ban? Stuff there to cut, or bring our own?

Barry is the Firemaster - need to haul wood from higher elevation

For those going Friday morning, meet at the Flying J Shell station on Lickmann Road at 10:30 a.m.
Radio frequencies: CB channel 4 and VHF 146.46 MHz. I'll put a map together for those coming
Saturday. If you've never driven the High Bar road before, don't do it after dark.

Directions to Churn Creek base camp:
Coordinates for Gang Ranch area: 51 degrees 43' 18” N and 122 degrees 19' 29”W

Basecamp is on the Fraser River in Churn Creek protected area, NOT in Gang Ranch.

Basically, you take the Fraser Canyon Highway 1 up to Cache Creek.

From Cache Creek take Highway 97 north to Clinton.

Fuel up in Clinton and head north on 97 toward Chasm.

Just past the turnoff for Chasm, turn left at Meadow Lake Road.

Follow Meadow Lake Road in the direction of Gang Ranch.

Eventually Meadow Lake Road changes it's name to Canoe Creek Rd.

When you go through the Canoe Creek village, keep right and end up

heading north on the High road with the view of the Fraser River on left below.

Do not go to Dog Creek. You may see our camp site across the river down below.

Cross the big suspension bridge and snake up the hill.

Do not go to Gang Ranch; instead go left into Churn Creek protected areas.

There are two campsites, one on the north side of Churn Creek and one on

the south side of Churn Creek. We'll be at one of them.
