Hi,

Any idea how can I fix the peeling surface of shiny chrome sticker around headlights grill ?

I was thinking to spray paint it with a shiny chrome color , not sure if that will work. Any other suggestions? Please see pics below

The chrome plating is attached to the plastic by a process called vapor deposition, which cannot be replicated in the home shop. The parts are placed in a sealed chamber and the chrome powder is vaporized and deposited on the plastic under pressure.

You can repaint it, but all the chrome plating has to be removed in order to get a smooth finish. I'm not sure I've ever seen chrome painted with paint that actually sticks; it's like painting galvanized steel. The chrome layer is pretty thin. I'd try glass bead blasting to remove it. That's less likely to damage the plastic substrate. Soda blasting is safest, but it'll take forever to get through the chrome layer with that medium.
