I only get this message with mud, afaik. Java and Windows media plug ins are installed correctly and tested.

Edit: not only mud. It seems to be from certain ads. I saw it on FB too.

When I click "Install plug-in...", it doesn't seem to do anything. There's a flicker of a download bar at the bottom, but I don't know how to tell what it wants or what it's trying to do. According to the browser it is up to date.

Odd, the only browser I use anymore is Chrome, and I've yet to get anything...don't recall anything offhand, but who knows...

I get that occasionally with Firefox, only on MUD. Haven't figured it out yet, it's probably from an ad or something. I dismiss the dialog with no ill effects.

The ill effect for me is the way Chrome displays the annoying bar. I installed the ad blocker just now. It works only sporadically to block ads and it does not solve the problem.

Edit: For me, the problem was the "Skype click-to-call extension". Once disabled it seems to solve the problem completely.
