Holcomb Peak

I'm wondering if it's doable getting to the peak from hwy 199. Looks like an interesting drive on the map for a summer run but going solo in the winter has me a little concerned. Has anyone else taken that route in the winter?
Somethings not right that the "Stalker" has better looking legs than my Nagavator.

Holcomb Peak is accessed from Cedar Flat Road out of Williams, Spencer Creek Road out of Murphy, Deer Creek Road out of Selma and Caves Hwy. out of Cave Jct. Once the snow starts piling up most of the roads up are driven and can be taken up to the top. But once it starts getting too deep then access from 199 is the first to go. Caves Hwy access is the first to go then Deer Creek. Spencer Creek and Cedar Flat have to get real deep for it to be impassable as there are many that head up those roads and try to push to the top.

This weekend I put the furthest tracks up the hill to Holcomb Peak and was probably a mile short of the top. Nobody had come over from CJ or Selma. It should be interesting if we get more snow before the run but I'm always up for the challenge.

To answer your question Tom, I would say come all the way into GP and run it up with us.

Grants Pass it is,,,if I can make it. Hope to explore some of the other roads someday. You guys have a cool back yard to play in. Most of the choice wheeling country over here on the coast is owned by the lumber companies and is locked up.
Where do you meet and what time?
Should I look into getting chains?

Chains recommended. I am thinking we should be meet at the Buckboard restaurant in Murphy so anyone coming in from 138 doesn't have to go as far. Buckboard is at the corner where we turn to head up Spencer. As for time I am thinking around 10? What's everyone else think? I might try to hit up their brunch before we meet too.

10am @ Buckboard sounds good.

... oh Tom, I don't have chains either. Hopefully with the group enough can cut trail so will be an issue if any ;).... or I will just borrow one of G's, that should be enough

Updated post#1 with update, time, location, etc.

I will probably not be going until I solve my Tranny tribulations. I have a set of chains for two tires. 33x12.50x15 Yokahama tires from long ago. Brand new but never used. Anyone may borrow if you need. Probably missing the rubber tensioners thouygh.

My buddy with the 79 mini on 39.5 Iroks with the turbo 5mge is coming and he may be bringing a couple of other guys with mini's.

7 days! Im stoked! :D

Uhhhh there's no snow on mt ashland now.... what are the odds we'll run into some on holcomb?
