Woo-hoo have a 22R carb pic, from when Diego did his, It is a '85.
The secondary accelerator pump is indicated by the yellow arrow in the first pic.
How it works: The carb is a two barrel, progressive design, meaning: When driven with little throttle it runs on the first (primary) barrel, like a one barrel carb (the green arrow, 2nd pic). When more throttle is applied the second (secondary) barrel opens (red arrow), operating as a two barrel carb.
When the throttle is quickly opened fully, the motor can bog, go lean briefly during the transition, The secondary accelerator pump gives a quick shot of fuel to eliminate this. How it works; when at low throttle setting/motor load, vacuum is high, this pulls the diaphragm in the secondary accelerator pump back against a spring, when the throttle is opened, vacuum is reduced, allowing the spring to push the diaphragm forward, giving the motor a quick, extra shot of fuel. The diaphragm should seal, if the vacuum line is removed and has gas in it, it will suck fuel all of the time making, the motor run rich, common problem on these carbs.
If the diaphragm is good and you suspect the carb is gunked from setting, try the "dollar two ninety eight overhaul". Get a can of spray carb cleaner, useing the extension tube, put a pretty good amount into the float bowl, through the brass vent tube (blue arrow). Run the motor at differing speeds and see if it clears up. Repeat is needed.
