Hi trying to find out if this run is going to take place I heard some time in Aug? Any information would be gladly appropriated. Thanks in advance. Mike

We are watching the Fire situation closely. Plan is for the August long. I'll get Franz to chime in on more details.

Interested in deets too

Hi All.
Yes watching fire situation closely.
I had dates in my head wrong - weekend moves forward to Fri Jul 30 through Mon Aug 2 (long weekend).
At this point the north boundary of the West Pavilion fire is at French Bar Creek, extremely close to the eastern section of Chinahead trail and Big Bar reaction ferry.
Alternate at this time is circle route including the Highline route from Pemberton - D'Arcy - Seton Portage - Mission Pass & Ridge - Yalakom - Poison Mtn - upper Churn Creek - Mud/Schwartz Lakes - Goldbridge/Bralorne - Pemberton (or reversed).
Let me know your thoughts.

Hi Franz. Thank you for the information on the up coming trip.As of today Carmine and myself are ago for the Friday/ Monday. As you said it’s the forest fire situation is what needs to be examined and not take any chances. At this stage do you know how many will be attending?Anything at this stage I can do don’t hesitate to ask. The Whipsaw trip was great, what a great bunch of people. Hope to hear from you soon. Mike

As much as I would love to go play again with this fantastic group of individuals, I am very hesitant at the moment due to the fire situation - I think that we should probably stay out of the back country until things change considerably and we get some much needed rain. Oh the joys of climate change summer.

Won't be able to make this one, if you do indeed go.

We are currently still watching the forest fire hazard rating and will make a decision mid-week (Wed). Right now I'd say 25% go / 75% no go. Please post if you are interested in going and how many people in your vehicle/group.
Thanks

As much as I want to go (never seen china head - I've been extremely close to two fires this year already. I'm passing

Well, unfortunately there has not been any moisture to reduce the forest fire hazard, and none forecast for the foreseeable future.
So we will not be doing the Chinahead trip this weekend, or even the optional route I proposed from Pemberton.
It's still on the list for this year, but will be postponed until mid-September after the Labour Day weekend ; perhaps a good alternative trip for those who can't do the Eastern BC Rockies trip that has been discussed.

Hi. Thanks for the information as promised and I know the amount of time and effort it takes to organize an event like this. With what is going on in the back country I would say you made the right decision. Looking forward..to wheel with you guys in September . Thanks Mike

any new proposed dates for this?

I'm out for any big trips this fall. I am in for Gary's Run at this point and do hope for a few campfire/smokie day trips (or maybe a local overnighter) into the winter.

Well, as there seems to certainly be some interest, thinking of Fri Oct 1 through Sun Oct 3.
I have an appointment just before noon on Fri, so it would be an early afternoon departure for us.
Suggest East to West, so start at Big Bar ferry. That way any stragglers can come up West Pavilion from Lillooet.
Camp at South French Bar Creek (51° 10.5223' N, 122° 15.4292' W) Friday night. China Head to Poison then through upper Churn to Swartz Lake north campsite on Saturday. Out Relay to either Marshall and back to Lillooet, or Goldbridge over Hurley and to Pemberton on Sunday.
Raise your hands to show who is interested!
And @604mike you can do this with a stock 80 on 31s 😉.

I would be very interested in this wheeling trip, depending on the weather for those days. Thanks Frans for organizing this event. Mike
