wondering if any of you have done it, or know if its possible to drive from chilliwack lake to ross lake via paleface fsr to upper silverhope fsr, my map book has the road on it but wondering if parts of it is just a bike trail etc and no vehicle could make it through, i'd like to know as i'm camping at ross lake mid july and done the drive before and would like somthing kinda different, but would like to know if its possible as i am taking the girlfriend and she wouldnt be impressed if we get halfway there and the road is cut-off and we have to go all the way around again

your guys expertise would be appreciated

matt

Well, it could be one of those "oh look, we've run out of gas moments" , then stretch your arms out while yawning, and make your move!

Since this is your first time, I will not charge for my expertise.

Even if there is an old road over to Ross (not just a hiking trail), errosion will likely have made it a no go. If the road hasn't had ditches, cross distches and culverts maintained, it's unlikely it will be passable. The last two years, that whole area has been hit hard by sudden melts and errosion.

so a no go eh? appreciate your help, if anybody else can chime in thanks, but for now i guess i'm go'n in from flood-hope road

:hhmm:maybe?

Paleface (and any other old logging road branching off from the lake) is gated as far as I know. Plus the trail is part of the trans-canada trail so I think they discourage motor vehicle use, which doesn't seem to bother guys with dirt bikes and quads. Don't know if the trail between would be possible by truck but I doubt it.

Maybe try it from the Silverhope side on you return trip so you don't have to do so much back tracking if it dead ends.
