I make Tony look sane when I'm doing the whiskey.

First...how would you know how tony is around camp? second....he is a gentleman and how dare you suggest he abuse the bottle!

Also look into the county that it is in because the taxes vary quite a bit from Cook to Will and Dupage, I am in Will and you don’t want to know what I pay in taxes. If I had the same house in Cook it would be less.

I'll pay your taxes if you pay mine...

Crook county is known for a reason. Our taxes our insane. Will is less.

The only thing i see being an issue is trying to fit a house, barn and rigs in a 1/2 acre. It's going to have to be in some of the outer areas and it's going to have to be in an area without a HOA. knowing people around chicago, they'd have a s*** fit if some guy moved in and started putting up a barn and had an ol' 40 sitting around.

Manhattan, shorewood, new lenox, mokena possibly but the 200k range will probably bump you out of mokena. plainfield, maybe bolingbrook... romeoville,~elgin?, from there, far north like near wiscon north...

Have you talked to any realitors in the area to help with the search?

Sauk village came to mind as well... or stegar.

I know a guy who is thinking of selling his house. 4br ranch. Best school district around. 10 min to express train. all new paint, roof, hardwood floors. No half acre, but a park out the back, 6' fence and a bad ass RC rock crawling course in the back yard.

Mud discount too. About $10K over what it should go for in this market. Buy it so [STRIKE]I[/STRIKE] he can move the fawk away from here.

If you don't mind a 3 hr commute try NE Indiana and u could have all that for about 150 or less.

Manhattan IL. rocks!! The worlds best St. Pats Parade ever! I don't remember what happened specifically but then that's why I banned myself from whiskey.

I live right across the street from all that nonsense. Are you the one that desecrated my neighbor's garden gnome? "happy" still isn't the same!

I dont think Ill ever uderstand the appeal of a parade! Every year til I was 11 my parents would drag me to the south side irish parade (I only lived a few blocks from it), what a misearble waste of time.

I got dragged to that one every year too!

I dont need a parade to drink $9 beers, or 10,000 or more of those things I hate.....what are they called again....oh yeah, PEOPLE!

$9 beers. I hope you are refering to a 30 of stones. Otherwise whatever liqour store you were going to was really ripping you off.

The cheap way to go is just carry a green, blue, red, or clear plasitc cup and hit up the houses with kegs and look to see what color cup everyone is using. Just act like you are a part of the group and you get free beer.

Being from the mount greenwood area you should have learned that trick in the 3rd grade.

tough price point. there are quite a few great spots around. just spend a bunch of time looking on realtor.com and then target a spot that a realtor can assist you with. a good realtor can be very benificial. i am not one, dont worry.

enjoy the search...it's a buyers market for the most part out here.

Thanks again about the advice and the bonus info on parades. :) I wont know anything until end of Nov. which gives me time to research.

My advice would be to look for a job that is NOT in IL or atleast not in Chicago. The state is in really bad shape finacially. I am born and raised in the Chicago area, and for the past two years have been trying to get out of the state of IL. One of the problems is, the food sucks everywhere else in the country. The other has been timing.

Are you are being force to relocate to Chicago by your company? If you are, I would look for a job with a different company, or force your current company to give you a hell of a salary increase. Also keep in mind that we are in the mist of an election race for IL GOV. Regardless if Quinn or Brady wins, IL taxes are going to increase. So consider that in salary negotiations.

If you want something in the "country", you are looking at minimum a 2 hour drive to the City and the train ride will probably be longer. FYI, distances are measure by drive time and not miles. So if you ask how far something is, you are going to get an answer in the for of a time and not miles.

True. 15 miles can often be an hour. I'm not from here and I'm looking to get out too.

Taxes will go up, but they do have the lowest income tax of any state that has an income tax. To avoid being a "tax raiser" the politicians have enacted a ton of other taxes. Sales tax is out of control. 10% in cook county. License fees are crazy. School fees cost me $800 one year.

I just can't take the traffic any more. 15-25 minutes to drive 4 miles to work sucks ass.

Food is pretty good if you like meat and pizza.
