Ok I am still fighting this issue and am sure one of you will have the answer. I have a Chevy 350 and have replaced all the gauges in my FJ60 with Autometer gauges. I need to know how to hook the voltmeter up correctly? I know it needs a charge light or some sort of voltage draw in order to make it charge but being an electrical idiot among other things can someone actually walk me through this ?? Thanks and Happy New Year to you all....

A volt meter needs nothing but a 12v source wire to function correctly. Most volt gauges will have only 2 terminals to attach to, 12v+ and 12v -. The light circuit may add a 3rd terminal or could have a seperate set of wires for the lights. As far as getting your charging system to operate, some systems use the resistance of the "volts" or "charge" light to actually turn on the alternator. Your pemier welder may or may not require this type of startup. The install directions should tell you this. If it does show a wire that will go to a dash light you can use the factory charge light wire. You will need to look at at wiring diagram to see which one it is at the factory alternator wiring harness. If it requires only ign power to start, thats easy enough.

howdy - slightly off topic, but do you have pix of the install of your oil pressure and water temp gauges? looking to do an identical instal as yours. also, beyond the meters, what kind of connectors/adaptors did you need from autometer? thanks kindly
