Hi all,

This is my first post, so please bear with me !
I am the proud owner of an '85 FJ60 & was thinking about dropping in a chevy 350 instead of the original engine as the car is as you all know very SLOW!

my questions are:
before swapping, is there anything i can do to increase power with the current setup ?
is this a good swap in terms of increased power / gas consumption?
is it an easy swap ? (do i need any kind of engine mount adapter ?)
do i need to fiddle around with the gears / drive shafts / etc...

Thnxalot in advance.....

This is becoming such a common thing in FJ60s that I'm wondering if we shouldn't set a dedicated FJ60 V8 transplant FAQ in this forum.

I also have a FJ60 with a tired 2F so I'm considering a V8 swap. I tried searching the treads and agree there should be a decicated FJ60 V8 swap FAQ. Maybe I didn't use the magic words.

I have a 350 from a 73 Corvette. I sold the body and kept the engine. I had the engine rebuilt with an RV cam to increase the low end torque. A local 4wheel drive shop says they can do the swap for $3 grand. They had several other conversions in various stages of completion. All look great.

They're telling me I must install a lift kit. I think to provide clearence for the oil pan. Is that really required?

What are the pros and cons of the swap?
