I’m supposed to take the LX570 to Colorado tomorrow (from Texas), so of course I get a check VSC error today. Flashing 4lo (though vehicle is actually in 4hi), flashing ABS.

Code pulled is: C1268 Transfer L4 position switch circuit

Any hope getting whatever this is taken care of today?

More info: warnings went away after driving for 5 minutes and cycling the power.

They come back when I try and shift into 4lo (doesn’t shift, warnings just show up).

I can get by without 4lo on this trip (not doing any trail stuff) but anything to look at before going?

This looks like the transfer case actuator positioning electrical components or contact "tracks" not in good contact or deteriorated over time, much discussed on this forum. Not an expert but potentially switching between 4H and 4L a couple of time while in neutral could resolve poor contact and your initial symptoms. I would like other IH8MUD'ers to chip in here before you do.

Picture of these electrical "contact tracks" and dielectric grease. You see only a portion is used and corrosion on the same. I would guess that is your issue.

My understanding is also that as you drive and things warm up and voltage levels go up from the alternator and battery charging it re-establishes electrical coms and the system is happy again.

Near term should be ok shifting a couple of times, long term I would do the maintenance by opening up the actuator and cleaning things.

You also should also cycle the central differential lock, beside 4L/4H, as both functions are in the central transfercase.
