New Here. Hello all. Long time Land Cruiser Lx470 owner. Had a 94 back int he day. Currently own a 99 bought new and a 2002 bought w around 40k on it. Both AHC's have failed. 99 is sitting on its front stops. 2002 is sitting on its rears. 99 failed at round 250k. 2002 failed at under 100k. probably from towing my bass boat. Anyway no way I'm paying a dealer thousands to replace those systems. Gonna do the conversion.

couple questions and thanks in advance.

1. Can I safely drive the 2002 about 5-7 miles to where I'll be working on it? I did drive the 99 there last fall to store it and it seemed ok. It would be slow to moderate driving. Would it damage any part of the vehicle to drive it like that the short distance? Its literally bottomed out in the back.

2. I am going to order new kits for both. I assume that is 4 shocks and the front torsion bar. Anything else that I need to know? I would order the stock kit for the Land Crusier of the same years as the 99 and the 2002 correct?

3. Is there any advice on beefing it up a bit and getting better than stock Land Cruiser shocks like Ohlin's or some other brand?

4. I wil be reading more here about capping off or removing the AHC units altogether and what fuses to pull etc.

Thanks!

Yoy can drive slowly. Safety is reduced, as the road holding capabilities will be severely reduce in case of an emergency maneuver, with the rear jumping around.
The suspension will not sink down on the stops because of having had too much load. It's probably just a problem with th erear height sensor. Could be just the linkage - or needing a cleaning inside.

Most kits will come with rear coils, the front torsion bars should also be upgraded to LC or OME.

I bought a pair of used OEM rear coils that fit and ride great with some KYB shocks. I still plan to replace the front T bars with LC ones.

Well there was a to of fluid under the drivers side rear wheel all over the garage floor and the back is bottomed out and the driver side rear side is leaning even lower than the right. The ahc light is on indicating "off". I drove it to the barn where I will work on it and it was bouncing up and down even at slow to moderate speeds.

Next step is the conversion. Will be reading up a lot more about it here but Im excited to do it and sticking it to the man and eliminating this ahc option.

Thanks guys.
