My 79 only came with one key, and its a bit worn so sometimes gets jammed in the ignition barrel. I didn't fancy having different keys for the doors and ignition so I got the full kit from Mr T, which consists of a set of keys, immobiliser ecu, ignition barrel and locks for everything.

I tried fitting the new ignition barrel and immobiliser ecu but it won't allow the engine to start so I'm guessing it's going to need coded or something?

Anyone got any idea how to do that?

Here is the kit I bought

I don't know anything about the 79, but to me it looks like it has an immo ecu separate from the main ecu.

Is it OBDII? In the US you need to do this when replacing an ecu on Toyota 2002 and up.

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes it has a separate immobiliser ecu and is OBDII. I'll check that video

I've decided to give it a go. Half way through the 30 minute wait so I'll report back to say if its a success or not!
