Has anyone heard or had expirience with the brand Champion winches? Saw one last night and it looked alright but only 8000lbs. would this work for a 62?

Champion
8000 lbs
series wound
snatch block included
3.7 ft/min
2.2 HP
5/16 x 95' cable
72lbs weight

Any opinions?

8000 lbs will work but it would not be my choice. You would need to double up the line most of the time and would be taxing it on almost all application otherwise.

probably 9k min. Try the T-Max winch. Good winch, good price. I used it on my KIA Sorento (probably the only Sorento in the world with a winch :) and believe me, I had to use the winch alot! The Sorento weighs about the same as a 60

Alot of those cheap winches are cheap because they are cheap

the Warn M8000 winches are available new for around $525-550. they seem to be a good choice for an 8k winch (higher rated HP?), as long as it's not all day use and you double up as suggested, should be OK for many situations- sometimes you'll need more, but in those situations, maybe even 12k might not be enough.

I'd say for an occasional use where you're not climbing competitively, 8k should be enough.

that's funny. over christmas vacation, i used my 9000lb winch to pull a KIA Sorento out of a ditch on a snowy road.

i've used that ramsey for long, steep pulls and it works just fine. i bet 8000 will be too.

Looks like Champion winches are made by the same Chinese company that makes inexpensive electric winches sold under other names such as Milemarker.

Personally, I would stay away from the Chinese winches. I'm biased towards the Warn units. I've used them for many years and they have (so far) never let me down. More expensive for sure, but for me, it's worth the cost. I'd check out the Warn 9.5 units.
