more pics of the big saw
the oak is about 48" through the middle. I've been slabbing it up for bar tops with the 6 foot bar and a ripping chain. its a scary machine, I read the entire safety manual after using it the first time...
that little 009 will be ultra light after heaving this monster around.

Some guys really push the limits of friendship.
Friend - "Can You Look at my saw. It won't start"
Me - "Sure, drop it off"
Friend - "Thanks, I tried to figure it out myself but got lost"
(Friend drops saw off while I'm gone.)
Me - "WTF?"
Three hours after cleaning and assembling the saw I called him and told him to quit putting bar oil on the gas tank.
Friend - "Can You Look at my saw. It won't start"

You mean they don't run good that way??
And you should get a case of
minimum for putting that box of sh** back together again.

I'm going to search CL for a box of Stihl parts and drop it at D'animals house along with 2 cases of Keystone light. Cool to see this come back from the dead.

I have "built" 14 saws so far this week and tuned many more than that. I did an MS 880 yesterday as well as the MS 460 pictured above and a few MS 210 and a MS250 and i was able to swap roll bars in my FJ40's.
My parts never made it from CCOT so I have a ton of free time. I'm just cleaning my shop and building saws in the process.

Your thread reminded me how slack I had become on saw maintence. I bought my 026 right before Hurrican Hugo back in the early 90's so it needs some TLC to keep it running. I've used the hell out of it but have gotten lax in the past 6 months.
Got to use a 390 (?) for a few minutes today (we had some big winds here in NW GA last night) to help remove a tree for the county. It bucked when the chain got pinched and reminded how much stronger this saw is compared to mine. Thanks again for the wakeup reminder on keeping saws fit and ready to go. Dave

Glad you were aware of the KickBack and was ready for it. With increased power and chain, speed the opportunity for kickback increases.
With the weird weather we have around here, I always have 6 or so saws ready for action. Small to Big. I have had to cut trees out of the neighbors driveways more than once. I use a Land Cruiser for the "Log Skidder" duty.

I have a friend who is interested in that portable sawmill thing you're using. What would a set up like that cost? His trees are more along 18" in dia. He would appreciate any info on manufacturers/equipment necessary and estimated costs. I appreciate your helpDave

Dan it seems to me you know what your talking about when it comes to chain saws. I have a question. I have a Poulan Pro 260LE. I changed the fuel line and filter. But no start. Spoke to locale so called Poulan repair guy he said I have take the whole thing a part to install the fuel line from the tank to the engine. Like a dummy I did, only to learn the plastic case wont separate. I assembled all back and use long long tweezers to attache the fuel line. (I should have done this in the first place). Like I said I cant get it to start. Can you help Dan? Your my only hope.
