I've worn Chaco sandals for several years, switched over after I couldn't get Tevas to not smell like butt. I had one pair that I have worn for probably 7-8 years. We had a new puppy in the house and she chewed the heel straps on both sandals. I learned that Chaco has a rebuild service and sent them in to have those straps replaced ($18).

Well, while they were there the rep noticed that the Vibram sole was coming off the front and rear of the sandals. I knew this, it was only maybe half an inch, and hell, they were old. Got them back today with new heel straps and new Vibram soles, complimentary.

They're more expensive than Tevas or the like, but they wear forever and with service like that, I'm sold.

That's good to know. I've enjoyed mine for years and I have a pair of their hiking boots.

On a similar note, I was shopping for a lightweight rain shell to replace my 10yo Marmot Precip. The laminate and seam tape had started to peel off the inside of the hood near the neck, shoulders/armpits, and cuffs and I was getting wet (only in downpours for long periods though). I went into my local outfitter store and the salesman said, "I really want you to spend money here, but why don't you contact Marmot first and see if they'll repair or replace it?" So, I did. I told them when I bought it...summer of 2003...and told them it had started to let moisture in. They said to send it back and let them check it out.

I got a new one (same size/similar color) three weeks later...and some stickers.

Score one for the local store and Marmot. It's good to know that customer service isn't lost everywhere.

Hi all,

I have become a Patagonia fan after the experience of owning one of their fleece jackets for 10 - 12 years. I have had the main zipper replaced three times, and one of the pocket zippers replaced once, all at no charge!

I have simply dropped off the jacket down at their store, and they call me a few weeks later when the jacket has been returned repaired.

I have to note, this was on a jacket that got worn a lot! :D

I am now looking to add a Patagonia synchilla vest to replace all the cheaply made fleece vests I have had over the years.

Regards,

Alan
