So after my wife called complaining about slow steering the other day I asked her to check for any lights shown on the dash. She said there were none. I asked her to check the center diff switch and sure enough it was depressed. Figuring it was a bad bulb I swapped it out (and fixed my 'D' light at the same time) but the center diff lock light still won't come on. Even when turning the key to ON prior to starting the center diff lock light is the only one that doesn't illuminate. The CDL itself continues to work but the light, as well as the VSC OFF light doesn't.

In searching I found a thread or two mentioning a switch on the transfer case that sends CDL status to the dash. Does anyone have any info on this? Maybe a part #? Is this in a serviceable location? The usual parts diagrams are pretty slim for the transfer case.

I'm bumping this because I have the same problem. Center diff engages but indicator lights don't... verified not the bulbs.

After searching the threads I see reference to the switches on the transfer case but not sure if this is something that can be done without a lift and with basic tools.

I'm interested to know what happens here. I'm guessing I have the same type of issue, but with my rear elocker. Light comes on blinking (steady pattern) while it's trying to lock, then I feel it lock, but the lights continues to blink (non-steady pattern)... Driving me nuts.

Yes, it can be done with basic tools. Engage the CDL, locate the correct CDL indicator switch on top of t-case, pull the connector off and jump the two wires. If you get a solid CDL locked dash light, the switch is bad. If bad, remove switch. Test, lube and work the switch until it works. If not, replace switch.

Sorry to keep bumping this but it seems related for those of us with factory rear lockers. @hoser, would the same apply to the rear locker?

Sorry, I didn't respond to your post because I don't have the OE electric rear locker. But I believe there is a similar rear locker indicator switch next to the rear locker actuator on yours.

Edit: Found this pic on the net. It's an 80 but should be similar. The rear locker indicator switch is circled in blue.

Much appreciate @hoser, sorry to bug you about it but I figured your wealth of knowledge would be a good resource. I also figured this would be good for 98/99 folks having this problem as the thread should pop up on a search now. I'll report back here if this fixes it, when I can get to it. Thanks again!
