Center diff lock malfunction indicator

Well, it's hard to get one past me, but I think they got me.

I'm definitely new to the creature comforts and electronics of something like a 200. Heck, before this LC, the most advanced thing I've ever had was air conditioning (and not automatic).

So when I was buying my 200, I pressed the center lock switch, the center diff locked, the light also came on the dash, and the VSC off displayed on the dash, and a triangle with an exclamation point came on. Everything worked, and still works. Well I was enjoying a good owners manual read, and realized the triangle indicator was the malfunction indicator, and I thought it was just telling me, "hey buddy, be careful cause your VSC is off".

So I'm reading this right, when you lock the center, just the center lock indicator and VSC off come on? Not the malfunction light?

I just bought mine on Friday night and used the center diff lock to try it out in some 12" deep snow, and the only thing that lit up was the center lock indicator. No VSC or or warning lights, just the green center lock light.

Thanks guys, part of me still thinks it's just a message warning because the multi info display says VSC off.

Last night, I found that not locking the center diff, and just turning off the VSC by pressing and holding A TRAC for over 3 seconds also turns on the malfunction indicator.

On my 08 LX this is what happens - when the center diff is on, VSC is off with the yellow triangle/exclamation light on.

Cool, thanks man, so our truck do the same thing. Yea it just threw me off because of the name "master warning light". But I guess it's normal.

There is no one-to-one mapping between a specific indicator light and the message (where message is the meaning of the lighted indicator). Would that it were but the meaning varies by context---aka it was cheaper and that is the way we have always done it. We could build a decision table as a short cut but it would would be larger than a sun visor. Thinking that I am going to reach down to push buttons (bottom left) that I cannot see while I am gripping the wheel with white knuckles is a fantasy. For me at least. I cannot play piano either.

Has anyone confirmed that this operation is normal? I have a 2011 with the amber Diff lock light and when engaging the diff lock - amber diff lock comes on and stays solid, VSC off comes on as well as the yellow triangle
