Installing procar rally bucket seats in my 1970 40. In mocking up I notice that if seat is centered with wheel that the seat off the toolbox toward the trans tunnel a buch compared to stock driver seat in the original split bench setup.

Just looking for input in what others have done. Can center seat with wheel, but brackets will be more complicated.

Thanks for any input.

Only that I do recall that to be true. On my 69 I moved over with different mount. Not sure it is truly centered but those are your choices (off center or on)

I'd go securely mounted in a comfortable position. My still has OEM seat and mount. I really need to rebuild/recover the seats.

Been looking back at older thread where I asked for pictures of mounts in older rigs that had toolbox. Definitely offset toward center of vehicle/steering wheel.

My OCD fully kicked in when mocking seats into position. Getting seat centered on wheel, mirroring that on the passenger side, and at same height is my goal. It is going to make a simple project much more involved.

My toolbox has some pretty serious rust issues (do not put shag carpet in your rig and then let set outside for 30 years). I may sacrifice it and fabricate a new one that would not be stock size or location but would be better for seat mounting.

Glad its not my daily driver!
