Yes, it is next week. Last time the first of the month fell on Thursday half of the members missed the meeting.

Bill, what are the topics we shall discussed and why did you not start this thread? ;)

Pantry 18:00.

:grinpimp: Asleep at the switch, I guess.
One topic is where to have our meetings in the future, because Rob is closing down his shop at the end of June, I think. We've got to come up with an alternate site. Any ideas? Parking is an issue for any location if 15 Cruisers show up at a meeting.
Another topic is the July 1st long weekend. We need a new destination in southwest B.C. that is within reach of all members. The site should also be one that has been visited and known to be a good one. Maybe Garry B in Squamish knows some good ones up there.
Mike McT was suggesting possibly of Andy Lake near Kamloops or possibly Taylor Creek near Goldbridge. Anyway, think about it and come with ideas to the meeting.
Of course, Cruiser Days is something always on our minds and I hope Allstone can make the meeting and update us on developments.
Finally, at least 6 people in the club have not paid their 2006 dues. You know who you are and I shouldn't have to chase you, beg you for the money, and listen to lame excuses such as "You should have phoned me and reminded me," or "Oh, I spent it on dinner and the raffle," or "Oh, I never carry cash because I will spend it," or "OK I will mail it to you sometime." The fact is that your dues money goes toward worthwhile things like Cruiser Days expenses, operating costs like printing and photocopying costs, T-shirts, the Rob Milson benefit fund, the big Christmas dinner, etc.
And while I am on this rant, many club members have not renewed their membership in TLCA. If this club is to remain a chapter of TLCA, then we all have to pay our TLCA membership fees. Yes I have paid mine.

Easy solve...

CC dues and TLCA dues are paid at once...no exceptions. The CC money man then sends the TLCA a cheque.

While on the topic of money...

I think everyone could dig a little deeper for the Rob Millson fund. Just like everyone else, I have expenses, debts and projects. But I'm willing to cut back in order to help out a good friend in need.

I'm challenging everyone to put in more than they already have... or even show some balls and meet the $200 that I'm putting in.

Who's going to step up? Go without that case of beer! Take a bag lunch to work! Make due without that new CD!

Make sure you go to the bank machine on the way to the meeting!

Well seeing as how there is a Rob Millson fund i geuss i should pipe up here and let everybody know that i am indeed alive and am recouperating quite amazingly in such a short period of time.
To one and all, a big Thank You for all the support, cards, letters, phone calls and hospital visits; i cant tell you all how much this has ment to me and my speedy recovery, again thank you all !!!!!
It's day 37 now and all the wounds have healed for the most part and last weeks phisio apointment went realy well; the Doc is very impresed with the range of movment that is already present in my leg however it will be upwards of a year supposedly until i can bear full weight on it, so the down side to this is that LCI is no more as it would not be cost efective to try and hire someone to do the work and still make any money(not that i was making any money before:frown:) any way i have to be out on July 24th. so we could infact have one more meeting out there in July.
This months meeting is a definate go and I will be there for sure this time, last month was just too fresh out of the hospital; thanks to all those that made the trip out to see me.
I plan to go to the pantry for dinner around 5:00 p.m. if anybody would like to join.

Lastly i would like to say how proud i am to be a member of this oustanding Landruiser Club, The Coastal Cruisers.:D
Cheers to all and see ya on Thursday
Rob Millson

P.S. if you have tried to e-mail with no response my computer is down and will be until i can get around to getting it fixed.
until then i am stuck with web mail at other peoples computers

Traci:
OK I am willing to take your challenge and throw in another $20. I live on a pension and don't have a job but I challenge those of you who have not contributed to now cough up some cash to help out a good friend in need. Among other things, Rob has to pay $2000. to get his teeth straightened as a result of the accident. He has also sold his black BJ70 daily driver to help meet some of his expenses.

I will match your $20.00 Bill and add another $20.00. Couldn't make the meeting tonight with Kid Committments, however will get the cash to the person in charge of handling the "fund"...

Glad to hear you are feeling better Rob... and hope to see you on the trails soon again....

Thanks Fitchick:
We Passed The Hat Around Again At The Meeting And Members Were Generous. Rob Was Overwhelmed By The Generosity Of The Club As A Whole. Thanks Everybody.
Rob Will Still Hold The Shop Until Well Into July, So We Can Have The July 13 Meeting There. I Will Write Up The Meeting Description As Soon As I Get Time.

Coastal Cruiser Monthly Meeting June 8, 2006

Eleven members met at the Pantry Restaurant at 6:00 pm including Rob Millson. This seems to be the restaurant of choice by the club at this time. Food Is OK.
The meeting got started in earnest at 8:20. Members present were: Marcin C., Phil S., Rob Millson, Rod McD., Jan H., Bill W., Garry C., Mike N., Clarence G., Mike McT., Thomas M., Jim C., Chris H., Barry P., Martin S., Malcolm M., Gary T., Steve T., Steve S., Paul K., Drew E., and welcome to Mat R.(New Member).
Guests included Traci & Rojo, Paul S., and Al S.

Item 1: ROB MILLSON thanked everyone for their encouragement, assistance and money to help him recover from his accident. He’s glad to be alive. He showed a photocopy of his femur fracture: it was a clean break. He credits his quick recovery to the great support he has received. He announced that his shop will be closed forever on July 24, so we will be able to have the July meeting here. We do not as yet have a new meeting place. Many of the items in Rob’s shop are for sale. He will hold a barbeque at the next meeting which might possibly be on a Friday night. Watch “Mud” for updates.

Item 2: CRUISER DAYS August 26. Rob Millson has agreed to carry on as the Master of Ceremonies after all. We have no food vendor, so people will have to eat at McDonald's across the street. Steve T. and Clarence G. think that things are on track for the Cruiser Days. Unfortunately Allstone was not present at the meeting and will not be able to participate in Cruiser Days . Some sponsorship efforts are being made: Garry C is trying to get Sport Truck and North Shore 4x4, and Rob Millson is trying to get Tireland, Western Warehouse, and Richmond Open Road Toyota, and Steve T. is asking Open Road Toyota Port Moody. We have a Cruiser Days Raffle prize now of the Waterloo tool chest combo. We hope to get an electric winch from Costco if it is still available. We expect to spend about $1000. on raffle prizes and we have other expenses also such as insurance, site rental, T-shirts (red image), audio & generator, etc. We have about $3000. in the treasury, but half of that goes for the Christmas Dinner.

Item 3: JULY 1 LONG WEEKEND. Members decided that the run will be to the Chataway Lakes area, north of Merritt. Some members may go up there early on Friday, June 30, while others will go Saturday, July 1. One possible rendezvous point will be Steve T’s place. Details will be posted on “Mud.” Members hoping to attend will be: Gary T., Bill W., Marcin C., Phil S., Jan H., Mike N., Mike McT., Chris H., Mat Z., Drew E., Steve T., Martin S., and hopefully a few others. Guests Traci D. & Rojo. Mike McT. knows the area and will give directions. Drew will post maps on “Mud.” Our activites will not be hampered by the Merritt Music Festival because that function will not start until July 13.

Item 4: AUGUST LONG WEEKEND. Whipsaw. Details to be arranged. Camp at Mud Lake.

Item 5: CLUB DUES AND TLCA DUES. Many Coastal Cruiser members have not paid their 2006 TLCA dues. In fact, only 22 out of our 46 members are up to date with TLCA. Our Coastal Cruisers Chapter is NOT a member in good standing with TLCA at this time.
If we do not correct this problem, we could conceivably lose our TLCA Chapter status.
The only 22 paid up TLCA members NOW are: Jonathan C., Greg B., Norm F., Chris H., Allstone H., Wayne I., Rob Millson, Marcin C.,Mike N., Gordon P., Barry P., Phil S., Jeff S., Martin S., Steve S., Malcolm M., Steve T., Bruce D., Petra N., Drew E., Charla D. and Bill W. All other CC members have NOT paid TLCA dues and are in default. It should be noted that membership in the TLCA is expected of all Coastal Cruiser members. If you do not know how to pay your TLCA membership, email or phone Bill Wilkinson and he will give you details.
Also, 5 members have not paid their Coastal Cruiser 2006 dues yet, and 2 of them have now been removed from our membership list because they do not come to meetings and do not respond to phone calls or emails.

Item 6: ANNOUNCEMENTS: Clarence G., is moving to Barbados in September.
BC 4x4 is having a run to Apex. (see BC4x4 website)

Item 7: CLUB RAFFLE: Martin S. scored the best prize, the rolling service cart. Barry P took the 10” orbital wax buffer. Mat won the rolling tool tray. Garry C. walked with the pulleys donated by Marcin. Phil S. won the razor knife set. Guest Al S. got the 10 lb rag bag. Next month’s prizes will be bought by Martin S.

The meeting broke up around 10:15 and the Cruisers rumbled out into the early summer twilight while nearby, on the great river, shadowy figures of tugs and river boats droned upstream toward their destiny with log booms and fish plants.

No longer able to do Cruiser Days...

Due to personal reasons that have recently presented themselves, I am no longer able to take part in Cruiser Days 2006. I may not even be able to make the event itself in August anymore.

Sounds like Steve and Clarence have pretty much taken care of everything anyway...so the event is more likely 99% organized. Best of luck to all.

Others have decided to take Traci's challenge to help Rob Millson:
Extreme Bends gave $250.
G&S Cruisers gave $250.
Cruiserland gave $250.
Outback Imports gave $250.

Many thanks for your generous donations people, now that's a real Land Cruiser community at work!
~Bill

Ya Rob got some good help! In reality the support that Rob got in this world isn't goin to go far. He's a Great buddy to all of us and would bend over backwards to help a fellow cruiser brother in need out.The challage is still out there. I gave Rob $500 , I'm sure that some of you have had a good past coulpe of years like myself and could help out a buddy that isn't.

ya ya. I remember. you topped my $400 and I lost our bet... so I'm going to be putting in another $50... but remember what I said... that's just for now.

ooohhhh. by the way, Rod... I was thinking... is that $250 from you and $250 from your counterpart??? did I really win the bet? hehehe

Traci you got a good point there. So what do we do?Did we both lose the bet?Do we both throw in another 50?

Here is the famous Millson Femur! A few inches lower would have crushed his knee. Higher up would have crushed his hip and/or manhood. Talk about a lucky break! He certainly can't kick about that....:grinpimp:
