Would like to see some pics and purchase details for your CB Radio Antenna mounts including how you get the coax cable into the vehicle interior. I've already got the radio and antenna picked out, just need to see some successful antenna mounts.

As for the coax cable, my cable came with one end not soldered on so I could fit it through grommets. I used the grommet that the stock antenna cable came out of and soldered the end on inside the cab.

awesome

now thats a kick ass idea ...however do you have to use a firestick or could you use a Wilson 5000 antenna instead and get a stiffer spring to keep the wobble down to a min

on the front bumper...just got a pipe hanger from lowes and attached a little bracket for the antenna to mount to. had to get the grounding right...use an SWR meter to check it out.

For the antenna mount I just made and welded on my own mount (on my recently new made bumper) and as for the antenna and spring I just used a heavy duty spring with a fire stick and it works awsome

Sorry, I'm not at home or in the States right now But I too just purchased a CB and 5' firestick. My 4X4 Labs rear has to places on the ends of the actual bumper (not on the swing arms) where I can mount it. I will probably thread the coax cable along the frame and adding a sping between the entenna and the mount so that I can pull it forward and tie the end of the entenna to my roof rack when on trails with low laying branches. I may have my installer thread the coax through the cab.

Sorry for not having pics.

Anyone running mounts on roof rack? Seem to get a better gnd plane when I place my s***ty aftermrkt mag mount on it....I did have it place in front of my 3/4 confer rack. Wilson 1000 with cobra 29.

I went to Ham outlet in San Diego and got antenna envy from the parking lot. Also got a disaster cheapo pl259 mag. Mount
I am now routing through A pillar withe out a pinch to the welding, then to seat belt cover. I really think base loaded coils need to b above any significant grounded structure...so my bracket is going on font center confer top rail, and will project fwd a couple of inches to clear rack.
Pics tonight

Most people mount the antenna on the front or rear bumper, somewhere, and run the cable through the firewall, or other access hole. I ran mine on the front and cable through a hole I drilled in the firewall, to separate the cable from other electromagnetic interference, but it's really a poor choice if you're after any kind of distance for transmitting.

Best spot is a magnetic-base antenna on the center, top of the roof. Most times, now, I'll just slap on a Wilson 1000 and run the cable through the window. With that, I can get miles of dx/tx in the mountains. With the bumper setup, it's really line-of-sight for a mile, maybe, with a standard radio.

However, bumper mounting with SWR and other parameters optimized it's still plenty good for trail running. Trouble obviously, with the roof mount is it hits everything...

anyone using magnetic base antenna in the plate right in front of the windshield .. ?

I use mine in my front bumper .. but looking for better emitting surface ..

Pretty sure the hood would hit it when opened as it barely clears the wiper arms.

The most complicated antenna mount ever? Maybe. Can I fit it in the garage? Yes. Do I use a cb all the time? Nope, only on trail rides. lol

Jiggered up a pivoting dealie on my swing gate. Ran the coax through the lower gate tube and into the cargo area at the tail gate. Always hated rolling around town with a big assed whip hanging off my truck, problem solved.

good part it's you can remove it anytime you need to open your hood ( not expect that happen much in my trips / trails )
