Thanks in advance with this question

Vehicle is a 1986 BJ70 Canadian spec truck which came with the 3B engine 24v system and the super glow cold weather glow plug system.

What would cause the glow system buzzer to sound? (the buzzer sound is coming from the dash near the glove box)

Additional background on the status of the truck;
I am in the process of converting over to a 24v 15B-FT engine with glow screen. At pre-start, the glow system and indicator light appear to be operating as normal. But while cranking the engine over, the buzzer alarm sounds (in the glove box area of the dash) for the glow system.

I have checked in the chassis and engine manuals as to the cause, but I have not found anything. I thought that the buzzer sounded if the amperage was too high (to the glow plugs for the 3B but glow screen with the switch to the 15B-FT), but with no reference this might be a memory failure for me.

Again thanks

An angry buzzing can be the solenoid coil in a relay shorting out. Or is there actually a warning beep/chime? I don't think there was a factory buzzer.

My guess would be that it's one of the relays in the engine compartment, probably the glow sub-relay which comes on after starting when the voltage supplied to the glow plugs is being routed through a resistor in the inlet manifold of a 3B with Super Glow. If you have shorted these wires (because there is no resistor in a 15B manifold) that would explain it. What did you do with them?

I'm doing a very similar conversion, 3BII to 15B-T, but 12V. I have a fixed timer (not Super Glow). My starter switch has a 'GLOW' position which I can use like a Wilson switch. So I don't have the issue of what to do woth the glow-plug resistor.

Are you planning to upgrade the wiring from the relay to the intake heater connector?

Angry is closer to the sound over beep/chime. However, the relays are in the engine compartment tucked into the fender behind the battery. The factory manual does show the seat belt alarm behind the glove box. I did have the seat belt out for floor access, so I should check that I have a solid reconnection.

I was not aware an upgrade to the wiring from the relays to the intake heater connection, so I missed that as a consideration.

Sorry, I just edited my reply with more thoughts.

I think the glow control unit may be in the cabin, not sure it has a coil in it though.
