Just thought I might post some pics and see if you all could help me out a bit.

I was measuring things for planning on maybe building my own sliders and noticed my Catalytic Converter looked pretty bad. Pretty rusted & corroded. But to be honest, I am unfamiliar enough with this that I dont know if this is the actual Cat or if this is some kind of "shield" over the Cat.

Anyway...pics.

From the side this is what apperas to be the "guard" for the Cat. Not much.

Now is that the actual Cat? Or is this covering the Cat. Yeah...I know...I feel dumb asking, but I'm man enough to admit that I dont know a whole lot about this. Thanks for any comments you all might have.

Also I noticed the "skid plates" on my tranny & oil pan...but to me they look pretty weak, I'm wondering if these are just some factory skid plates that are somewhat worthless...at least in the sense of really protecting. Thoughts?

Thanks. I figured it was a "shield"...but I wasnt positive. And yeah, I dont wanna fix something that isnt broken, but I just wondered if it looked like it was in pretty bad shape or not.

As for the skid-plates...thanks...again I figured it was the factory skid plate...and I've seen that Slee-plate...I'm already planning on getting that!
