Mark even looks the part! Doesn't he look like he belongs in one of those broken down miner shacks?

Thanks for protecting this important heritage!

That's a great pic Joe! I didn't know you had it.

On that particular trip, Joe and I ended up helping hiking two roles of felt roofing paper and the repaired window frame shown in the pic approximately 3 miles up a washed out canyon into a wilderness in order to help stabilize an old cabin that VERY few people know about.

I am sad to report that we just within the last month lost a culturally significant cabin near the Zzyxx hot springs called the Sheep Creek cabin. Our parent organization has opened a dialogue with the Barsow office of the BLM in order to prevent that office from repeating this tragedy.

We were very heartened by the response we got from the BLM, who did not know of our organization's existence, much less our experience and resources. We are hopeful of having a meeting with them soon.

In the meantime, I did some minor work on another cabin a couple of days ago:

Mark,
It looks like these are some of those you were telling me about when I was out at Johnson Valley. It would be nice to explore out there someday. Thanks for the info and pics.

Rob
