I'm going to get my headers coated at Carolina Ceramic Coating right across the street from Fred Anderson, probably my valve cover as well. I talked to the owner on the phone and he seems like a honest small business owner to me

- Has anyone had anything coated by him?

In addition, I've got to place an order with MAF or SOR here in the next couple of days so if anyone in the Raleigh area needs anything, let me know, we'll order it all together and save on shipping.

I may need some more parts depending on what the bearded one says, but im not in raleigh.

I can bring them to Darin's next week if you find out what you need pretty soon.

I've heard of them before. Think I should get a quote from them as well?

They're farther away however, an hour versus 15 minutes.

My list grows by the day. Im good for now. Unless u have a 2f exhaust/intake manifold n good shape?

I''ve got an intake that needs repair, but it sits flat on the bench.

Did resurfacing the Darin's manifold not work out?

No, the ones he had were not able to be done. Too much would hve to be cut, and the match to your intake went down the road to someone else. He has the stuff off of his original engine though.

Will do. The quote I got was $200 to have my headers blasted, baked to remove all oils, then coated inside and out with the color of my choice.

Ended up getting my headers blasted, baked and coated in satin black. Had the valve cover blasted, baked and the exterior coated with white. The owner, Joel, was great. He gave me updates at every stage of the process and had the parts done exactly on time. Laura dropped the cover and headers off on a Monday morning and the parts were done Friday afternoon. It was $260 out the door for both parts. The blasting / baking was $20 a part, $155 to coat the headers and $60 to coat the valve cover. They came out looking GREAT! Joel has plugs to put in the bolt holes, so you don't need to provide bolts to fill them. The bolt holes came out crisp with no coating inside. He has coatings to do everything from pistons to body panels. He has a lifetime warranty for brand new parts that he coats and a limited warranty ( ~1 year ) for used parts. I highly recommend Joel for anything you have.

The bit of pitting on the lower section of the headers is from rust that Joel blasted off, not his coating.

 I definitely did. I wiped them off though, I promise.

I need to find a different 2F air cleaner as the stock one almost completely covers up my new, white valve cover:cool:
